John is also looking forward to playing a little golf when it gets cooler in the fall and winter. He had a great time staying with Bill Black over Reunion weekend. Also enjoyed seeing Frank Scattene and Rich Chambers at the Theta Xi get-together. I wish the best to all my classmates. ’8-O! GO! GO! ’81TomWocklish, twocklish@alum. lehigh.edu Jennifer and I vacationed for a week with fellow DU bros and spouses on Hilton Head Island inMay, celebrating life and losing golf balls. The occasion we anticipated and planned for more than a year was referred to as DUHilton Head. Before you have too much fun with that acronym, Delta Upsilon is among the 11 active chapters you will fnd on the Hill today. Remember the 31 houses when we arrived? You’ve been updated on most of the DUHH attendees, Dave Szablowski ’82 and wife Keely, Rodger Hutley and Jan (Kamon) Hutley, but not Bob “Cheese” Palsgrove. Bob retired in January 2021 after 40 years in the banking industry and is currently living along the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Since retiring, Bob and his wife, Marion, have enjoyed watching three of their fve blended-family children getting married and the arrival of their frst grandchild in June. Bob and his wife have done a lot of traveling since retiring, especially enjoying the sites in the U.S. When not traveling, he enjoys fshing, golfng and especially fy fshing in Pennsylvania and New York. Jerry Leibensperger is the one fellow alumnus who reached out to the new class correspondent with an “atta boy” and a welcome update. Thanks, Jerry! You’re the best! Jerry retired fromCarpenter Technology after 37 years in the high-performance specialty alloy-based materials industry. He was very happy at Carpenter while performing many roles, including metallurgist, manufacturing manager, procurement director and VP of sales. Now, instead of sealing the deal, Jerry enjoys hiking, golfng, kayaking, fshing and travel. He is also recognized by most people in his house as a wine connoisseur. He and his wife have been lifelong residents of Berks County. With three grown children spread around the country, it’s a good place to be (although Florida is looking better every winter). Jerry and his family have enjoyed vacationing on the Outer Banks for many years and have plans to go this year with his wife and oldest son to relax, fsh and kayak. Snort, chuckle, titter, gufaw, howl. Our chief comedy ofcer parlayed the wit common to EE’s into a successful comedy career. Congratulations to Don McMillan for not only appearing on, but making it to the fnals of, season 17 of “America’s Got Talent.” Keep ’em coming, funny man. Correspondent Anne Kline attended our class reunion, providing the following insights: Best fraternity representatives: Zeta Psi—Jack Archibald, Todd Stone, Bill Hotz and Bruce Spengler (“Where’s the Beef?”). Best sorority representatives: Alpha Gamma Delta— Lynne (Gallagher) Snyder, Jami (Frank) Miksiewicz, Laura (Yearsley) Riehl and Anne Kline. Best parade participants in the disco-themed parade: Jim Horvath (wearing gold chains and an ’80s mustache); Sue Royer and Kim (Thompson) Zdon (wearing mullet wigs); and Ed Metz for carrying our class fag. Best committee members: Linda (Taylor) Ferguson, Jon Wilcox, KimThompson Zdon, Shari Butz, Jack McGowan and Anne Kline. Best “Tall Guys Club”: Dan Nemeth, Jack McGowan and Dave Silver. Best answer to the question, “Where will you be in 2035?”: Donato Monaco—paying tuition for his son at Lehigh’s Class of ’35! Better late than never! Hey, classmates! I’m really interested in hearing from you. Drop me a text or give me a call. ’82John P. Belardo, 152 Berkeley Circle, Basking Ridge, NJ 079 0. (973) 425-8755 (B); jbelardo@mdmc-law.com. On Facebook, like “Lehigh University Class of 1982.” Reunion weekend June 9-12 was our 40th. Events culminated with a class dinner Saturday night on the deck at SteelStacks. I had the opportunity over the weekend to catch up with Ed White, Michael Osterman and Linda (Luce) Osterman ’81, Leslie (Kline) Davidson, Sue Yee, Barbara (Robertson) Newton, Nick Sudano, Joe Orr ’79 and Penelope (Robbins) Orr, Kris Nielson, Pete Morales, Christopher Kratky, Mark Comyns, Leigh (Walker) Anderson and Leslie (Broderick) Lavender, among others. Joan and I especially enjoyed meeting and hanging out with Trina and Lee Martucci. They have lived in Scottsdale, Ariz., for the last fve years, and Lee has recently taken a position in Iowa-based Brava Tile, a manufacturer of sustainable tiles. Tom Natan is now pursuing a master of public health degree with Tufts University. Ron Nersesian has retired from Keystone Technologies. Andy Eckert left the accounting feld to pursue being an airline pilot. Andy has fown 757s and 767s for United Airlines since 1997. Michael and Linda Osterman stopped by to see us at our Maine house in July on their way to a week vacation with their son Ryan in Bar Harbor. Lastly, I attended a packed memorial service on June 26 at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church inNew Jersey for Todd Stires. Todd fought a brave battle against cancer. I had lunch with him in April, and he had hoped to attend theMasters Tournament. Todd was a wonderful fellow and will bemissed by all. I have workedmost of the summer remote inMaine, still as a lawyer, and havemanaged to play a fair amount of golf at the Falmouth Country Club. Be well as we all hit the Social Security-eligible age of 62. ’83Nancy Liu Freedman, nancyliulehigh83@ gmail.com Happy fall, Class of ’83! I hope you are staying safe and venturing out more. I did not receive any emails, so I am reporting on news I see and hear about classmates in public sources or events. Congratulations to the following classmates whose children became Class of 2022 Lehigh graduates: Ann Lewnes on the graduation of her son, George Welch; Robert Hollenbach on the graduation of his daughter, Kyra; Timothy Skewis on the graduation of his son, Brendan; John Zak on the graduation his daughter, Julia; and Lisa Anderman Daskal’s family, including grandparents Carole and Arthur Anderman ’56, on the graduation of Noa Daskal.
