07. OUR STAFF Ilhan Citak, Archives and Special Collections Librarian, won the 2021 Vedat Türkali Poetry Award for Dil Tutulmasi (Tongue Eclipse). The jury’s statement included that “Ilhan pushed the form and language boundaries of his poetry and initiated the search for new narratives and expressions, and gave new breath and voice to Turkish poetry.” Stacey Kimmel-Smith, Assistant Director of Client Services, and Mark Canney, Manager of Library Lending Services, shared the Louis & Helen Zirkel Library Staff Award for 2020. Alex Pacheco, Manager of Research Computing, and Steve Anthony, Research Computing Senior Analyst, were recipients of a 400K National Science Foundation Campus Cyberinfrastructure award in July 2020 to build Hawk, a 34 node, 1,752 CPU, 32 GPU HPC cluster with 800TB Ceph storage. AWARDS PRESENTATIONS Carrie Baldwin-SoRelle, Social Sciences and Scholarly Communications Librarian, presented “Flip the Textbook: Science in Translation with Student-Created OERs” at OpenCon Philly at Temple University. November 2019. Carrie Baldwin-SoRelle, Social Sciences and Scholarly Communications Librarian, presented “Whiteboards, but Make it Virtual: Using Google Jamboard to Promote Interactivity” at the ACRL Distance and Online Learning Section Virtual Poster Session. April 2021. Ilhan Citak, Archives and Special Collections Librarian, presented “You Are the Archivist You Must Know the Answer” to the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries (PACSCL) Annual General Meeting “StorySlam.” May 2021. Grant Hittinger, Sr. Computing Consultant, and Tim Palumbo, Sr. Computing Consultant, presented “How Student Workers Saved the Day” at the 2019 SIGUCCS Conference in New Orleans. This presentation showcased how LTS overhauled its PC inventory system by training and empowering LTS student workers for the project. Daniel Huang, Resource Acquisitions Manager, created a conference session in collaboration with LTS staff for the 2021 ER&L Conference, titled "Tag You’re It: Preparing Acquisitions Data for Surprises." Stacey Kimmel-Smith, Assistant Director of Client Services, Sharon Wiles-Young, Director of Library Access Services, and Mark Canney, Manager of Library Lending Services, presented for two conferences: ACRL-Western PA and West Virginia Chapter (June 2020) and the PaLA College and Research Division, Luncheon Series (January, 2021). They presented "Make Way for Macchiato!" about the FairchildMartindale Library service and building redesign. Chulin Meng, Director of Library Technology, and Sharon WilesYoung, Director of Library Access Services, delivered a session on October 16, 2020 about Lehigh's experience with open source development for the ACRLDelaware Chapter. The title of the presentation was "A Tale of Risk, Failure and Success: Lessons and Thoughts on the quest for an open source Library Management Platform at Lehigh." James Monek, Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations, presented “Modernizing Campus Safety and Mass Notification Systems” and “IT and Facilities Engagement Strategies” at EDUCAUSE 2020. James Monek, Director of Technology Infrastructure and Operations, presented “Monitor AWS with Grafana 7” and held the panel discussion “Strategic Cloud Decision Making: A Cloud Journey of Three Schools with Banner” at Cornell Cloud Forum 2020. Boaz Nadav-Manes, University Librarian, was a panelist for "The Need for Greater Interoperability: As User Expectations Continue to Evolve, So Should the Library Software They Use" and presented "Get ready for transitional agreements!" at the Electronic Resources & Libraries Conference, Austin, TX. March 2020. NadavManes also presented "Make It Work Now! Urgency and Innovation in Library Infrastructures in a COVID-19 Era" and the poster presentation "OA Check and Deliver: Collections Under Access Scrutiny" at The Charleston Conference, Charleston, SC. November 2020.
