Mr. Wuestner was the manager of the wrestling team and a Phi Gamma Delta brother. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Watson Research Center, where he was a leading developer of the JPEG and MPEG compression algorithms and contributed to fax and video compression systems, filing over 35 patents and publishing over 50 papers. He was amember of the Asa Packer Society. Richard W. Rice ’57, Elizabethtown, Pa., Nov. 21, 2021. Mr. Rice served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the federal government. Donald A. Schiessl ’57, Elizabeth, N.J., Dec. 15, 2021. Mr. Schiessl was themanager of Central and North Jersey operations for GECapital Corp. for many years. James. R. Seifert ’57M.S. ’64, Bethlehem, Pa., Oct. 24, 2021. A Phi Kappa Alpha brother, Mr. Seifert worked as an electrical engineer and then became the director of manufacturing for Western Electric/AT&T, retiring after 35 years. Upon his retirement, he taught in the business school at Lehigh University as an adjunct professor for eight years. James R. Barney ’58, Adamstown, Md., Sept. 28, 2021. Mr. Barney was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. His 10-year career included time in Vietnam. He went on to work for IBM for 25 years as an engineer/scientist. Wilmer E. Hough ’58MBA ’66, Bethlehem, Pa., Feb. 26, 2020. Mr. Hough worked for Mack Trucks as a corporate risk manager. He was a very active alumnus, volunteering for his class extensively. His decades of dedication were recognized when he won the Joseph R. Persa Award in 1983, Alumni Award in 1988, Robert A. Harrier Award in 1990 and George F.A. Stutz Award in 2009. John P. Miller ’58, Bethlehem, Pa., Sept. 17, 2021. Mr. Miller was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked as an accountant for over 40 years with various firms. Upon retirement, he worked with Penn State University’s Embryology Programas a classroomeducator. Gordon C. Shaw ’58, Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 6, 2021. Mr. Shaw served in the U.S. Army before attending Lehigh. He worked as a computer programmer and taught computer science at the University of Rochester and Rochester Institute of Technology.
