S P R I N G 2 0 2 2 | 6 5 N O T E S you can go to the beach or a hike and just enjoy the moment and the view every day.” I had the chance to drive across the country withmy dad (Harvey York ’67) in the fall of 1994. It’s a trip I won’t soon forget, and I highly recommend doing it with your kids, too. You may have to pry the phone from their cold, dead hands though! ’95Bridget O’Connell, 1840 Sycamore St., Bethlehem, PA 18017. (610) 8686605 (H); bmo3@lehigh.edu It was great to catch up with several Lehigh alums at the football tailgate for the Lehigh-Lafayette game, including Karen (Sayre) McCarthy, Ray Powers, Jim Guzzo, Lance Haynes ’94 and Mike Yadush ’93. It was perfect weather for football, and Lehigh won! I’mhonored to share that I was recently named the 2022 Pennsylvania Superintendent of the Year. Effectively educating students in themidst of the pandemic is truly a teameffort, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of my fellow alums who are serving as faculty, staff, administrators, boardmembers, school volunteers, advisors and coaches in their school systems. I appreciate you. On a final note, sincewe have missed our last two opportunities to get together for a class reunion, we are going to have a combined class dinner with the classes of ’95, ’96 and ’97 theweekend of June 9-12, 2022. Mark your calendars, and I’ll postmore details as they become available. ’96Jen (Crimmins) Keen, 17 Windsor Drive, Foxborough, MA 02035. (508) 5435036; jen@keensense.com Greetings, Class of ’96!My pleas for some informationhave been heard… thank you to Rene Obregon and Brandi (Brezina) Unchester for getting back to me! To the rest of the class, please send some updatesmyway! Renewrites: “I have been living inPrinceton, N.J., for the last 15 years withmywife and two sons. I have been in finance (international equities) since graduation at ING, Lehman (bust), Bear Stearns (bust) and for the last 15 years at Numis, a boutique U.K. investment bank (as CEO of the U.S. office for the last five years). I try to get to Lehigh for football games every year, but C19 threw a spanner last year (looking forward to it this year!). I just had a small summer BBQ with some Lehigh alumni (and Sammy brothers): Matt Sullivan and Stephanie Walkup, Bryan Brook, Brad Unger, EddieCinca ’95, David Rubinstein ’97 andKeri (Leo) Rubinstein ’97. It was great to catch up and swap notes on where everyone is in their lives (some closer to sending their kids to college already!). I am a proud wearer of Lehigh paraphernalia, and my wife is always surprised when someone comes up and says ‘Engineers’ or ‘I went to Lehigh too!’ Most unexpected encounter was with a fellow Lehigh graduate—hiking in Cuba!” Thanks Rene … I am looking forward to wearingmy Lehigh gear on some travels this year, as this two-year COVID travel hiatus has thrown a ratchet into those chancemeetings! I was scrolling through Facebook and saw some great photos fromBrandi with a big group at Lehigh-Lafayette, and she let me know that her group consisted of “me (Brandi (Brezina) Unchester, Melissa “Missy” (Fitzgibbon) Newman, Elyssa (White) Murray, Anne (Rinchiuso) Hasselmann, Virginia (Frisch) McElroy, Alex McElroy, Stephanie (Chaikivsky) Kedziora ’95, Elizabeth “Beth” (Flanagan) Murphy and KevinMurphy ’94, along with spouses and children—25 total! Unable to attend were Terri (Marino) Hunsinger and Tom Hunsinger, whose son, Josh, competed that day to win the N.J. State Cross Country Championship for Union Catholic High School. Our group (predominantly Alpha Gam alumnae) has gotten together for a football game at Lehigh every year since we graduated in 1996 (except ’20 COVID). This time together has become more precious as our own children grow up and go off to college and we face struggles losing parents. During COVID shutdown, we continued our tradition through Zoomhappy hours. Looking forward tomanymore Lehigh football tailgates!” Thanks again, Rene and Brandi. I wish all of you and your families good health and hope that we can see each other again at Lehigh-Lafayette and around the world soon. Cheers! ’97Lopa (Patel) Zielinski, Madison, NJ, Lpzielinski@gmail.com Class of ’97, save the date!
