RETIREMENTS For two decades, Julia was at the forefront of advancing Digital Scholarship at Lehigh. LTS VP and Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) Director Greg Reihman said, "Julia inspired countless faculty and students with a compelling vision of what’s possible when creating borndigital scholarly works, courserelated digital projects, and documentaries as a form of storymaking and scholarship." She was responsible for the leadership and oversight of the CITL’s Digital Media Studio, DIY recording studios, and the Digital Scholarship Team, which includes Geospatial Data and Visualization, Media Production, and Digital Library Technical Services specialists. She was awarded the Louis & Helen Zirkel Library Staff Award in 2009. English professor Ed Whitley said of her academic contributions: "It's no exaggeration to say that I owe my career as a scholar to the support that I've received from Julia...her expertise and enthusiasm have been invaluable.” Julia's last day of service was June 5, 2022. She leaves a legacy of excellence in service to Library and Technology Services and to the entire Lehigh community. JULIA MASERJIAN With heavy hearts we marked the passing of Berry Richards on July 15, 2021. Many longtime LTS staff members remember Berry as the driving force in pioneering work of the Lehigh Libraries, and for her achievements serving as Lehigh’s first woman director of the libraries, BERRY RICHARDS IN MEMORIAM KEITH MEEKER After over 40 years of service to Lehigh, Keith retired from his position as senior computer technician in Computer Repair Services (CRS) on December 31, 2021. Meeker provided hardware technical support for thousands of desktops and laptops over his decades-long career. “The value of Keith’s service is immeasurable,” said Bruce Eisenhard, manager of CRS and Student Technology and Repair Services. “Keith worked behind the scenes, solving sometimes complex hardware problems for students, faculty, and staff.” Keith twice served on the Employee Relations Advisory Committee and received two Tradition of Excellence awards during his career. LORIN MILLER After 34 years of dedicated service to Lehigh University, Lorin Miller retired on December 30, 2021. Lorin was a valued member of what was then called ADMO, the Administrative Data Management Office, and later joined Infrastructure Operations on the Data Processing Team. Lorin played an important role behind the scenes, not limited to but predominantly ensuring financial feeds and transmissions occurred. Data Center Manager Lori Carrol said, "Lorin has been well known by various administrative offices for his dedication and attention to detail in getting the job done accurately and in a timely manner." a position she held from 1977 to 1997. Berry led the deployment of innovative library technologies and services, including LEADERMART (Lehigh Automatic Device for Efficient Retrieval + “Mart” for the Mart Library), the world's first online interactive information retrieval system, developed by Lehigh computer science professor Dr. Donald Hillman in the early 1970s. Berry loved the Lehigh Libraries, continuing her support throughout her retirement at numerous LTS functions, as well as attending events sponsored by the Friends of the Lehigh Libraries, which she helped found in 1980. She also played an integral role in the formation of Lehigh's Special Collections as we know it today, and in planning the building of the E.W.
