Summer Bulletin 2023

CLASS NOTES | SUMMER 2023 | 69 went on a nice long honeymoon to Italy and France with her husband, Ben Dunmire ’16, in early 2023 and is finishing up year two of three in her Ed.D. program at Vanderbilt. After graduating with her M.Ed. from Lehigh, Sarah Glickstein ’14 ’15G spent five years in D.C., working in philanthropy and development. When the pandemic hit, Sarah started working at Salesforce and moved to NYC in late 2020. There, she met her fiancé, who, funny enough, got a job in D.C., so they ended up moving back in 2021. Sarah now works at Visible in corporate social responsibility and is enjoying life back in the district. Samantha Hanna published a book titled “Mind Captions” in 2022, which launched in a number of stores including Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Moravian Bookshop and other independent stores. “Mind Captions” is a collection of poetry embodying the beautiful, ever-evolving journey of self-discovery. Samantha is working with some folks at Lehigh and the LUAG to plan an event related to her book, so keep an eye out for more details! Please don’t hesitate to email either of us anytime (leahpaulson22@gmail.com or michaelronan214@gmail.com) with your updates. We hope you are staying well! ’15 Kerry Mallett, kerryamallett@ gmail.com We have had lots of exciting life updates in the Class of 2015 as of late! Olivia (Hodina) Glynn and Eric Glynn ’16 welcomed their first child, Lily Josephine Glynn, on Oct. 27, 2022. Olivia said they can’t wait to introduce her to Lehigh! Jenna (Cusumano) DuPaul and Glenn DuPaul ’14 welcomed their baby boy, Colin, on Feb. 5, 2023. Will Keller received AFCEA International’s prestigious Emerging Leadership Award for his outstanding support to AFCEA’s Lexington-Concord chapter. AFCEA is a nonprofit association serving military, government, industry and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships. He was cited for guiding the chapter’s emerging leaders by organizing in-person and virtual social, educational and philanthropic events and volunteering for countless hours at community events. Finally, Madeleine (Smith) Foley ’15 ’16G published a book titled “The Foreboding.” The following is a description of the book: “Shiloh left her cliché life of academic achievement, and all the expectations that went with it, in the dust, without any intention of looking back. Upon arrival to her new city, picked unceremoniously from a hat, she is quickly enveloped into a barely understandable side of existence she never considered. When the life she always assumed to be true and the complexities of nature collide, Shiloh is forced to confront the unharnessed power of the human mind and the interconnectedness of the world she worked so hard to learn about in school. What if your mind was no longer your own?” Congratulations to Madeleine, who said that after serving as the manager of operations for emergency services at Children’s Hospital Colorado through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she realized that there was no time like the present to chase her lifelong dream of writing a novel. ’16 Rachel Sholder, rachelsholder@ gmail.com Starting this summer, I’ll be working toward my doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. I will be focusing my research on applied mathematics and statistics — specifically, infectious disease epidemiology modeling. I’ll be working under Dr. Lauren Gardner, who was named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020 for creating the JHU COVID dashboard. Since June 2022, in addition to NASA projects, I have also been working on public health projects. I’m super excited to continue contributing to solving the nation’s space exploration challenges while simultaneously further immersing myself in the public health field. Chris Ruhl jumped behind enemy lines as he took a position as adjunct professor of mechanical engineering at Lafayette College for the spring 2023 semester. He is completing this role as he continues his Ph.D. studies at Lehigh, which he hopes to wrap up this year. Cynthia Pando became a Ph.D. candidate in health services research in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation will focus on the impact of immigration policies on health care access for U.S. citizen children with Latinx immigrant parents. This research builds on previous work she did while she was at Lehigh pursuing her master’s in sociology. She hopes to focus on the job market in the fall and finish her Ph.D. in May 2024. Matthew Pasch ’16 ’17G and Eden Weinflash ’17 ’18G met at Lehigh in 2017 (out one night at Molly’s) and got engaged on Feb. 18, 2023 in Dumbo, N.Y. They currently reside on the Upper West Side of New York City and will be getting married on Sept. 1, 2024. ’17 Robert Hillman, robert.j.hillman1@ gmail.com ’18 Megan Olivola, mcolivola@gmail. com This spring was especially exciting for some of our classmates, as they are finishing medical school and starting their residencies. Congratulations to all who matched, and here are a few highlights of those in our class who will be starting their residencies soon. Audrey Hla attended the Frank H. Netter M.D. School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and matched with the University of Connecticut for the obstetrics and gynecology residency program. B. She is planning on pursuing a sub-specialty fellowship after the completion of the internal medicine program. ’19 Alexis Parsells, lex. parsells@gmail.com and Claudia Cohen, claudiacohen10@gmail.com Maya Levy graduated from the College of Business with a marketing degree. Upon graduation, Maya got a job in New York City as a TV buyer for a global media agency. She worked in the office for nine months before the pandemic hit and her work became fully remote. Maya lived with her best friends from Lehigh in Hoboken from 2019 to 2020. When the lease ended, she decided to travel while working remotely. She was able to go to Hawaii for six weeks and then Australia for six weeks, exploring different islands and cities. After those trips, Maya moved back home to New Jersey and reached the conclusion that she didn’t want to continue living in the New York City area. She had always wanted to live in a different country for a year or so after experiencing a semester abroad in Barcelona through Lehigh. She took advantage of the company’s global connec-
