Summer Bulletin

N O T E S unprecedented time. Annaliese was living in a studio apartment in a brand-new city through the beginning of a pandemic. During this time, she decided to adopt a 13-year-old calico cat named Luna. Luna sleeps all day and cuddles in the morning. She became a friend to come home to after a day at work and has truly changed Annaliese’s life for the better. Eventually, it was time to come home to the hustle and bustle of New York City. Through her job search, she reached a position as an assistant project engineer at a turn-key company based in Manhattan called HITT Contracting. Although she enjoyed the experience she gained in Washington, D.C., she was ready to go back to the pace she was used to. She’s now mastering high-end ft-out work that takes place in the fnal stages of luxury spaces. She is experiencing an alternative side of the industry instead of building from the ground up. She’s more focused on completing the interiors and mechanical systems. She also works closely with important clientele in order to get the space to their vision of perfection. Annaliese is currently living with fellow alumna Jocelyn Godoy in Brooklyn. They spend their free time exploring the area and connecting with nearby friends. They do their best to always motivate each other in their respective felds. Annaliese feels lucky to live with another hard-working, powerful, independent, career-driven young woman. She plans to spend more time with family now that she is back in her hometown and is looking forward to two of her siblings’ weddings. ’20Madison Hite maddytennis5@ gmail.com ’21Anmol Shrestha, shrestha.anmol. as@gmail.com or @anmolshres on Instagram and Twitter; and Skyler McCabe, skylermccabe1@gmail.com Editor’s note: Our many thanks to Amy Chai, who told the story of the Class of 2021 all through their student days. Taking the reins now, we’d like to welcome Anmol Shrestha and Skyler McCabe! FromAnmol: “My name is Anmol Shrestha, and I am beyond excited to be serving as class co-correspondent for the Class of 2021. Throughout my time at Lehigh, I was always on the hunt for opportunities to connect with other students and learn about their experiences. I am happy I can use this position to keep that up and hear about all the exciting lives you all have been living. “Currently, I work for Bentley Systems Inc., an infrastructure engineering software company that creates innovative software to advance the world’s infrastructure, as a software engineer. My day-to-day mostly involves programming. (I am deliberately keeping it vague; you’re going to have to reach out and ask me if you want to know more.) I live and work in Philadelphia, but I mostly work from home because of the pandemic. “My Lehigh career and experience was unlike most since I was an international student fromNepal. While navigating a diferent country and its cultures, everyone in Lehigh was extremely welcoming and understanding. It all started for me inM&M and ended in 411 Vine St. After switching through all the engineering majors and declaring mechanical engineering my frst year, I ended up switching to computer science my second year and stuck with it all the way through. While at Lehigh, I served as VP for LU Diplomats; worked as international orientation leader and Camp Hawk counselor for two years; conducted COVID-19-related research with Professor Baumer in DAS Lab; helped other students as a peer tutor for calculus and as a teaching assistant for various computer science courses; and worked as a tour guide to show prospective students how amazing Lehigh is. “Being part of the Martindale Student Associates Honors Programwas the highlight of my Lehigh career. Although we were unable to visit Argentina because of the pandemic, I learned a lot about the country and published a research paper on their lithiummining practices and future viability. The people I have met and the experiences I have had at Lehigh will forever be a part of me for the rest of my life.” From Skyler: “Hi all! My name is Skyler McCabe, and I am very excited to be a new 2021 class co-correspondent. I look forward to staying connected with you all as we continue living our fairly new post-grad lives. “Right after graduation, I moved to Manhattan, where I work at Citi as a corporate banking analyst in the Financial Institutions Group. Moving to Manhattan and starting a full-time job post-grad was, for sure, a challenging transition, but having my Lehigh friends by my side has made it an exciting journey that is reminiscent of the exhilarating feeling that I had moving to Bethlehem freshman year! “At Lehigh, I was a fnance and marketing double major with a minor in real estate. In the business school, I was involved in several diferent organizations, including serving on the executive board of Beta Gamma Sigma andWomen in Business, and was a member of the Dean’s Council and a HAWKS peer mentor. In addition, I was a TRAC peer writing tutor. Aside from academic-related organizations, I was also a dedicated member of my sorority, Pi Beta Phi, serving as VP fnance. “After being so involved at Lehigh, I joined the Young Alumni Council to give back and help ensure that all future Lehigh students receive an education and experience that was equal to or better than mine! It has been a great experience on the council thus far, and I am excited to see direct impacts made. “Although graduation was bittersweet, my frst year postgrad has made me realize how thankful I am for my time at Lehigh. Every single class, teacher, friend and opportunity was transformative to my life, and I couldn’t imagine a better college experience. I look forward to keeping in touch. Please reach out to share your life updates or anything else!” ’22Leidy Iglesias, lmi222@lehigh. edu; Andrew Isaacson, aji222@lehigh.edu Well, this is it! We’vemade it! The Class of 2022 has crossed the fnish line of their time at Lehigh and is moving into the next phase of their life. Graduation is a day that everyone has been waiting four years for, and it will mark a huge milestone for everyone in the Class of 2022. It will also be the second and last time in the last four years that everyone in the class will be gathered in the same venue at the same time. The upcoming graduates will then be starting full-time jobs, going to graduate school or starting a new journey in a new place. It has been a very challenging last four years at this school, and the world has changed so much during this time. This class, along with the rest of the university, has learned how to adapt to learning in an online environment and learning how to connect with others in unusual ways. But at the end of the day, that was only aminor bump in the road. 6 2 | L E H I G H B U L L E T I N
