Summer Bulletin

N O T E S remember that we had the dinner and entertainment at the Ben Franklin building on the top of the mountain … that’s “Chad’s place”! The Goehring Journey: Well, two years later to the day, the journey from a COVID-canceled March 2020 wedding of my son, Bryant Goehring ’07 ’08G, to Heather Hurley was celebrated this past March—and it was a perfect night and a blast. In June 2020, they did get married in a beautiful Palm Beach park with about 20 people, but in both of their DNA, the wedding celebration was NOT going to be canceled! Same place in Florida, same epic band, same friends and families, same awesome wardrobes, and—WOW— what a finish to their journey of marriage. They now move on with purpose and zeal to many new journeys. Lehigh was well represented with Bry’s friends/ classmates from ’07 and ’08. “Maybe” class columnist Brian Roth ’07 will take the baton on this one in his next column! Best to all. ’77Ann Louise (Werley) Price, 2 Colton St., Farmington, CT 06032. (860) 677-1295 (H); prokemo@ comcast.net You will be reading this in August—well after our 45th Reunion will have happened. But given the Bulletin deadlines, you will have to wait for the next issue to read any news on your classmates gathered during the Reunion. Center St., #1407, San Antonio, TX 78202-2723. ladygai lus@yahoo.com Hello, classmates! As I write this, I’m getting ready to leave for my oldest nephew’s wedding in Tucson, and about the time you read it, I’ll be attending my oldest niece’s in Annapolis. So, 2022 will be a busy year for my family. Apparently, most of you are busy, too, because my inbox has been pretty empty, but I did hear from two of you. Maryann (Hart) Chisholm sent me an email about her adventures since we left Lehigh. She graduated with a commission in the Air Force and spent 28 years in assignments all over the world, mainly as an engineer building and operating Air Force facilities. She retired as a colonel in 2006 and worked in the industry for a few years but returned to the Department of Defense in 2010, this time as a civilian employee with the Defense Intelligence Agency. Ultimately, she achieved the rank of senior executive (equivalent to a brigadier general), leading DIA’s military construction program. She retired from the civil service last December, and she and her husband, Aaron, intend to move back to Pennsylvania to be near her family. Rob Nahigian of Auburndale Realty in Newton, Mass., wasn’t slowed down by the pandemic. In 2021 he helped Woon-Tech, a specialty glass company, move 125 manufacturing, warehouse and ofce jobs to a property he located for them inMillbury, Mass. Currently, he’s the national real estate director (on a consulting basis) for Deep Edge, a company that operates data centers. With Rob’s expertise, Deep Edge’s long-term plan is to buy or lease up to 20 data center locations throughout the United States. In addition, Rob continues to have a heavy schedule of live and Zoom speaking engagements on real estate topics. What are the rest of you up to? Making up postponed travel? Retiring? Welcoming new grandkids? Let me know by snail mail, email or Facebook. Just a warning, my columns are published about four months after I submit them, so expect a four- to eight-month delay between contacting me and seeing your news in the Bulletin. However, if you want to tell us what’s going on with you or read other people’s news between Bulletins, you can check out our class Facebook group, facebook.com/groups/ Lehigh1978. ’79Lance M. Bell, 952 River Run Dr., Macedonia, OH 44056-2369. (216) 219-3729 (mobile); lanceb344@gmail.com I retired from project management work at the end of February 2022. After four failed attempts since 2018, I finally learned to say “no” to recruiters. This time I promised my wife, Dorothy, that I wouldn’t weasel out of the decision. Volunteer work is exempt, so here we go with another class column! William “Bill” Klimack, Ph.D., is now serving as a professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Oklahoma. He’s the director of the online M.S. program in industrial and systems engineering. As Bill is teaching only online, he’s still living in the Houston area. He says this is a new program, so there has been a lot of course development as well as teaching. He developed and taught a decision analysis course last fall and is teaching a general simulation course. By the time this issue is published, Bill will be teaching a cost engineering and a project management course that he is developing. Bruce Peck accepted the position of assistant vice president, senior recruiter, wealth management at Citizens Bank. He previously served as senior recruiter, talent acquisition, development and diversity for Santander U.S. Bruce is still living in the Boston area. Don Weaver slipped on the ice at his ofce parking lot back in January. That event resulted in rotator cuf surgery inMarch. By the time you read this column, he should be playing bass again with his blues band. Don is an engineering supervisor at the Summit County Department of Environmental Services. Many of us are experiencing life transitions that create new opportunities and adventures. Our classmates and I would love to hear from you, so please contact me and share! ’80Gary Chan, (847) 902-8881 (C); gkchan80@ alum.lehigh.edu Jerry Miller retired in October 2021, joining many of his friends, family, and colleagues in the Great Resignation.
