Stabler Report 2023

Favorite Lehigh tradition I love all things Le-Laf related. Being able to represent Lehigh in one of the oldest rivalries in history is very cool and often feels surreal. Hometown: Bethlehem, PA College: College of Business Major: Business Analytics Why did you choose Lehigh? I came to Lehigh for a multitude of reasons. First, I am a Bethlehem native, and I love that I’m only a 20-minute drive from my parents and much of my mom’s family. It’s extra great that they are close because I am on the swimming and diving team, so I get to see them when they come to our home meets! Additionally, I tutor students at Broughal Middle School throughout the school year, and being from Bethlehem and coming back to help Bethlehem kids is really special to me. I also chose Lehigh for the rigorous academics, and I am grateful when I am continually challenged in the classroom. Last, when I visited while being recruited for my sport, all of the student-athletes I met were so nice. What is your favorite class or subject? I have absolutely loved my Spanish classes. My professors were always extremely nice and helpful and made learning new grammar and vocab interesting and fun. My professor for my first semester of Spanish was Jessica Brandt, and when I see her walking to her classes in Maginnes or Chandler-Ullmann, we still greet each other and catch up if we have time. I plan to minor in Spanish, and I am really looking forward to those classes! Interests outside the classroom: If I’m not in class or at practice, I love to spend time with family and friends. My roommate and I love to read and can usually be found reading together in our room. I also enjoy biking on the D&L Trail, getting lunch from one of the great restaurants on East Third Street, and cleaning up Bethlehem’s roads. My family owns a PennDOT Adopt-A-Highway by my parents’ house, and we gather as a group to clean the roads regularly. A message from Sarah: Scholarships and financial aid are making a huge difference in my life. Without them, I would not be able to attend Lehigh University and experience the charm of the community in South Bethlehem and everything that comes with that. I am so very grateful to you for this scholarship. I hope to continue to do my best to appreciate everything in my life that has happened because of your support. Thank you! SARAH GILL
