Spring Bulletin 2022

miles long, doo-dah; doo-dah). Some of youmay have attended “Lehigh Lessons for Alumni by Alumni,” for which Lori has twice been a host, including the class “Memoir as anArtform.” So, if you have that lifetime experience needing to be told, like the one that will blow the lid off of the upholstery industry you are in, watch for Lori’s next session. Lori, I’d be delighted if you could just get our class to send three-sentence “memoirs” for this column. “D’OH” “Goodbye Joe, me gotta go, me oh my oh. Son of a gun, we’ll have big fun on the bayou.” (Fats Domino) ’87LauraM. D’Orsi, 26 Falcon Ridge Circle, Holmdel, NJ 07733. (732) 241-5229 (H); lauramdorsi@yahoo.com Finally got to go to Lehigh-Lafayette thisNovember. Everyone I sawwas so happy to be out and about. Joe Yammarino ’85 had his usual Alpha Sig tailgate at the best spot in the parking lot, right before the stadium. Saw Tim Farrell there, whowas extremely happy to be enjoying a day out with the boys, and is loving his newhome inBrick, N.J. Andrea (Worth) Robik and her son attended the game, and also got to see Kathy (Duggan) Trimble andDave Trimble ’86. I know Deena Pegler and a group of Alpha Phis were at the game, but did not get to see them. Also, a large AOPi contingencymade it as well. Just felt so great to be enjoying something normal again. I was able to catch up with Diane (Dewitt) Frisch, who now lives in Frisco, Texas, and has had her own travel business since 2016. Before venturing to her travel business, Diane worked in public accounting. She and her husband, Mark Frisch ’86, are in the Dallas Fort Worth area, and fortunately, their kids have relocated to the area as well. Diane has a host agency through Travel Leaders, and through them she received training. She has access to favorable rates with cruises, touring, hotels, etc., and also access to boutique destination companies all over the world who make some really “wowmoments happen” for her clients. Diane has her own website and presence on Instagram and Facebook. About half of her clients are from the tri-state area and Lehigh, and the other half are from Texas. Diane can seamlessly set up expedited processing through some airports, private guided tours, experiences like hot air balloon rides over a vineyard in Tuscany or private after-hours visits to big-name museums, chapels and cathedrals. Her website is dfdestin ations.com or @dfdestinations on Insta. Sounds like we should all contact Diane for our next escape from reality. Diane filledme in on some other Alpha Gams. She also follows the adventures of Mary Ellen (Lynn) Walker, who has hiked the Appalachian Trail and Pacific Coast trail and just keeps continuing with her hiking adventures. Julia (Ward) Held is a Realtor inNorth Carolina. Julia speaks fluent Spanish after living inMexico and South America for many years, which helps her in her real estate business. Julia and I actuallymet up at the Lehigh Rally in August. One of her children is a current freshman at Lehigh, where her husband, Ray Held ’85, other two children and her father-in-law are also alums. Julia was honored to carry the 1987 flag at the Lehigh Rally welcome event for the freshmen. Diane also keeps in touch with Giselle (Francois) Marfleet, Beth (Slawson) Lucas, Kim (Byrne) Novak and Bethanne (Goodwin) Nolan. They have been fortunate to benefit fromDiane’s trip planning with girls’ trips toMexico, the Dominican Republic and Nashville. I also had a chance to connect with Jackie Krasas, who is now deputy provost for faculty affairs and professor of sociology and women, gender, and sexuality studies at Lehigh. Jackie recently published a book called “Still a Mother: Noncustodial Mothers, Gendered Institutions and Social Change” about mothers who don’t have custody of their children. Jackie was one of the participants in a panel as part of Soaring Together, a celebration recognizing the accomplishments of Lehigh women and the impact of 50 years of co-education. The panel took place at the Leadership Recognition Dinner at Lehigh this October. Jackie is enjoying her experience at Lehigh, where she has worked for 17 years. Everyone shouldmark their calendars as in 2022 we have a big reunion coming up, our 35th, and we will be celebrating a cluster reunion with the Classes of 1986 and 1985, who were cheated out of their own reunions due to COVID. There should be a lot of partying going on at South Mountain on theweekend of June 9-12, 2022. Book those hotel rooms ASAP and head to Lehigh’s website to register. Let’s all come out of hibernation and plan a trip! ’88Dave Best, dave@ bestcollegeconsult ing.com Sharon Siegel Voelzke shared a wealth of exciting news.
