2021 Stabler Donor Impact Report R4

STABLER SCHOLAR ALUMNUS Name: Matthew Pasch ’16 ’17G : Degree: BS, Mechanical Engineering; MS, Mechanical Engineering Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer Company: Raytheon Technologies City: South Boston, MA Who inspired you or supported you at Lehigh? The friendships I made as a member of the Marching 97 did the most to support me during my time at Lehigh. Those friendships are lifelong, and they were vastly beneficial to both my enjoyment of my time and my mental well-being while at Lehigh. How did Lehigh prepare you for your professional career and/or goals upon graduation? As an engineer, the fundamentals I was taught as a student have given me a solid foundation that has helped me during my career thus far. The hands-on experience I got during my undergraduate labs and as a graduate student has been helpful in grounding my skills. These courses helped me be prepared to enter the workplace. What advice would you give to current or future Stabler students? I would advise students to find something they are passionate about within their field during their time at Lehigh. I recommend using their time at school to explore and find that passion. I hope that once they graduate, they can try to follow that passion into the workplace. What are some career or personal milestones you look forward to in the future? I gained valuable leadership skills as a member of Greek life and the Marching 97. I look forward to using those kinds of skills I learned at Lehigh as I continue my career and grow within it. What motivates you to give back to Lehigh? Giving back means supporting those communities that have supported you in the past. Without scholarship assistance, I would not have been able to attend Lehigh and be where I am today. Because of that assistance, I am in a position where I can help students who are in the same spot I was in.
