ENGINEERING Name: Ben Boafo Hometown: Rock Island, IL Major: Mechanical Engineering Class: 2023 Favorite activity: Watching Lehigh Football Favorite faculty or staff: Professor Matthew Moore, Mathematics Dream job: Mechanical Engineer I have two main motivators to excel at Lehigh. The first being that Lehigh itself is a very prestigious school, and having been admitted, I feel extra motivation to study as hard as possible to reassure myself about how great of an achievement it really is to be here. The second, and probably the most important, is not letting my parents down. Sometimes I talk with my sister, and we ponder about the impact that us going to college has on our parents. It’s a very noticeable impact, and I never want to fail and have my parents’ sacrifices feel like they’re going to waste. Lehigh has great professors and especially great teaching as- sistants and tutors. Everyone is always available to help when I need it. As I mentioned earlier, Lehigh is an excellent and pres- tigious university, and at the end of my experience, I can have a good chance of getting a job as a mechanical engineer. While at Lehigh, I look forward to joining the Formula SAE club in the fall semester. I was going to join this past spring, but the program was put on hold because of COVID-19. Giving back means acknowledging the blessings I have received and making sure I can pass on these blessings to someone else. I aim to always find ways to contribute back to the community or to someone specifically in need. Thank you so much for your contribution. The support does a lot for a lot of people, and many of us wouldn’t be able to go to a great school like Lehigh without the assistance. Thank you.
