The following were reported to us as of August 31, 2022: 1940s Arthur L. Landesman ’43, Boca Raton, Fla., Jan. 25, 2022. Mr. Landesman was a member of the track team and a Sigma Alpha Mu brother. He served in the U.S. Army before working for Fisher-Porter and Beckman Instruments. He then acquired and managed two chemical businesses in New York until his retirement. Robert W. Saylor ’43, Grand Rapids, Mich., June 6, 2022. Mr. Saylor was a member of Tau Beta Pi and the Glee Club. He worked for Lear Siegler Inc. Jack B. Rader ’44, Reeders, Pa., May 11, 2022. A Sigma Phi Epsilon brother and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Rader owned and operated Mountain Springs Lake Resort. Aaron L. Kestenbaum ’48, Sarasota, Fla., July 13, 2022. Mr. Kestenbaum served in the U.S. Navy during WorldWar II. He was a Pi Lambda Phi brother and basketball player. He made his career as a solid-state physicist, holding a number of patents, an entrepreneur and a business executive. His son, Henry Kestenbaum, is a member of the Class of 1975. Stanley T. Holmes Jr. ’48, Macungie, Pa., May 21, 2022. Mr. Holmes was a Chi Phi brother. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacifc during World War II. He spent his career in life insurance and fnancial investments. He was president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters. As an active alumni volunteer, including serving as the class correspondent for over 40 years, he was honored with the Alumni Award in 1973. Rodman B. Teeple Jr. ’48, Wilmington, Del., May 22, 2022. Mr. Teeple was a Delta Sigma Phi brother. He worked for Hercules, Inc., for 42 years. Jack Akerboom ’49, Medford, N.J., Aug. 25, 2022. Mr. Akerboom spent his working career with Best Foods, retiring in 1990 as vice president of research and development. During his career, he co-authored seven patents. His son, Kenneth Akerboom, is a member of the Class of 1981. Joseph A. Donahue ’49, Garden City, N.Y., May 27, 2022. Mr. Donahue’s education was interrupted by his war service in the U.S. Navy. He was a Phi Delta Theta brother and a member of the wrestling and lacrosse teams. He served in the Navy again during the Korean War. He worked in the ofce furniture business. John D. Mitchell ’49, Leesburg, Fla., June 26, 2021. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during WorldWar II, he was also a Theta Xi brother and member of the baseball team, Marching 97 and Glee Club. He made his career in the paper products industry, retiring as plant manager for The American Can Company. Daniel H. Rucki ’49, North Caldwell, N.J., Aug. 14, 2022. Mr. Rucki was a WorldWar II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for ITT for 40 years as an electrical engineer and program manager. His daughter, Cathy (Rucki) Wild, is a member of the Class of 1982. 1950s John A. Kirk ’50, Masaquan, N.J., June 8, 2022. Mr. Pray was a Sigma Chi brother. He made his engineering career in aerospace and missile programs. He retired from the Naval Weapons Center. Carlyle J. Roberts ’50, Orchard Park, N.Y., May 26, 2022. Dr. Roberts was a Delta Phi brother and a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies. He was the director of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Nuclear Engineering, and his scholarship pioneered the discipline of health physics. He also led the training division of the International Atomic Energy Commission, worked for the government and retired fromDames &Moore. He was a member of the Tower Society. A. Wayne Schwab ’50, Hinesburg, Vt. May 19, 2022. Rev. Schwab was the president of both Alpha Sigma Phi and the Canterbury Club and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to become an Episcopal priest and was later appointed the frst Ofcer in Evangelism for The Episcopal Church in the United States. In retirement, he founded the nonproft organizationMember Mission Network, Inc., led numerous conferences and authored three books (one co-authored with daughter Elizabeth Schwab Hall ’85). Irwin W. Young ’50, New York, N.Y., Jan. 20, 2022. Amember of the Epitome yearbook and Pi Lambda Phi brother, Mr. Young was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He joined the family business, DuArt Film Laboratories—the oldest continually operating flm lab in the country—where he made a major impact on the independent flm business. He retired as chairman. For his work, he received a 2000 Oscar for technological contributions to the motion picture industry. His daughter, Linda Young, is a member of the Class of 1983. Donald K. Barnes ’51, Halifax, Va., June 2, 2022. Amember of Tau Beta Pi honor society, Mr. Barnes was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and made his career with Westinghouse Electric Corp. Thomas D. Dowdell ’51, Sequim, Wash., Aug. 29, 2022. Mr. Dowdell was a Sigma Chi brother and a member of the basketball and golf teams, as well as Tau Beta Pi and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. He worked at Pepperdine University. He was a very active volunteer as an alumnus, serving in his class’s leadership as correspondent and fundraiser for several decades. For his service, he was honored with the Alumni Award in 2001 and the Joseph R. Persa ’48 award in 1996. He was also a member of the Tower Society. H.
