Lehigh Fall Bulletin 2022

6 2 | L E H I G H B U L L E T I N N O T E S ’90Michael Lewis mpl1968@yahoo. com and David Tratner, dctsports@gmail.com From Elizabeth (Short) Stothof: What a reunion weekend! Clearly, the third time was the charm, with a big thanks to JimGiddon for never losing hope that it would eventually take place. We aremaking 54 look damn good. However, I did have to laugh when John Lee couldn’t read his bar receipt, and neither could anyone else that he showed it to! On a personal note, this article will mark 33 years as author of our class column. Thank you to everyone who has shared their lives since graduation— celebrating advanced degrees, careers, weddings, children and global adventures. It has been an honor to write about each and every one of you. However, the time has come to hand this pen to someone else, and I am so pleased that Michael Lewis and David Tratner will be the Alumni Bulletin’s new authors. They will bring with thema fresh perspective and double the alumnetwork, so I will “retire” knowing that 1990 will be in excellent hands. And now I hand the column over to them. … FromDavid Tratner and Michael Lewis: Hello, Class of 1990! For those we have not seen since the day Rich Verma spoke about “brownies and beer trucks” and the late Carl Sagan spoke of “billions and billions of galaxies,” we’vemissed you. For those that we saw in June for our 30th reunion, wemiss you all over again. First, we need to recognize the inimitable institution that has been Elizabeth (Short) Stothof for the past 33 years of Class of 1990 notes. As we take over the writing reins fromElizabeth, we have amere four words about the heavy responsibility we are about to assume: “We had no idea.” Elizabeth gave us generous updates about all of you, three or four times a year, or over ’90 times (get it?) during her alumni writing career. Elizabeth, you kept us together; you boosted attendance at our alumni events; and you helped us retain the intimacymany of us felt back in the days of on-campus life. Thank you, Elizabeth, and enjoy three or four fewer deadlines a year as you go forward. We will devote the remainder of this particular class notes edition to our attendees at the 730-day-delayed Reunion 2020. After two years of pandemic postponement, alumni from 1951 to 2021 returned to SouthMountain to celebrate their milestone reunions. It was certainly something to see, and I amglad to have been there for many reasons. At the top of that list is celebrating withmy father, Craig Anderson ’60, celebrating his 60th reunion, andmymother, Judy Anderson ’69G. It has been my tradition to celebrate his reunion with the rest of the great Class of 1960. It was a special treat to be together for 30th and 60th reunions—made possible by this combined celebration. Seeing somany classmates and friends across all these years was wonderful. Our class had 75 in attendance, andmany are current parents of Lehigh students. It was terrifc to hear about the journeys across the years that led some back home to Bethlehem. I returned to Bethlehem in 2019 to serve as the vice president for development and alumni engagement at Moravian University. My son is currently a sophomore atMoravian studying environmental science and is eager to head west for graduate school when the time comes. Clif Seltzer owns and runs Puresend, an email service provider. He ofcially has one remaining child in college, as his older son graduated with a B.S. andM.S. fromCornell inMay. He is thankful both sons are employed and living independently in D.C. and NYC. His daughter will enter her second year at Princeton, where she is a diver on the swimming and diving team. Jackie (Montana) Mitsch had a great time catching up with everyone at the reunion! Currently residing in Rumson, N.J., she will celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary this year. Her older daughter will be a senior at Boston College, her younger daughter will be a sophomore at Wake Forest, and her son will be a senior at Lawrenceville. Alan Lapoint and Robin (Cranage) Lapoint live in Freeport, Maine, and have three children: Matthew (24) is a graduate of Centre College, Nathaniel (21) is studying at the University of Kentucky, and Christina (15) is attending Cheverus High School in Portland. There is an open invitation to visit and enjoy a craft or newN.A. beers at the Portland brewery and beer garden! Please keep the good news coming! It is terrifc to hear about you, your families and where time and travel have taken you! ’92Melissa (Gitlin) Jacoby, mgjacoby@gmail.com; and Rachel (Beck) Diamond, rachelmbeck@hotmail.com
