Condolences to his wife, Lauri, and daughters, Bridget and Ava. “Till the next time we say goodbye, I’ll be thinking of you.” (Rolling Stones) ’87LauraM. D’Orsi, 26 Falcon Ridge Circle, Holmdel, NJ 07733. (732) 241-5229 (H); lauramdorsi@yahoo.com Well, what can I say? If you attended our 35th reunion this past June, you know it was an amazing time. We won the record for having the most alumni at a 35th reunion, we won the parade and we won the fag. Everyone chipped in to make this possible, including the committee members, myself, DJ Jeferis, Jill Tirnauer, Brad McGowan, Andrew Cagnetta, Cordelia Boise, Stu Seltzer and Mark Kavulich. Our parade captains—Catharine (Jaccodine) Hovey, Linda (Linahan) Menna, Carrie McGan, Nancy (Stoll) Kabat and Brenda (Barth) Harvey—outftted us with ’80s attire, including headbands, disco wigs, gloves and signs that said “I want my MTV” and other ’80s slogans. They also came up with the “time of our life” theme and made sure the Alumni Band played our songs at the fnish line. For once, ’87 was not lame about the parade—we defnitely rocked it! And won it! Alita (Nemrof ) Friedman was honored by receiving the Alumni Award for the Class of 1987 for all of her work with Lehigh and the business school over the years. Jill and I attended the dinner on Thursday night when she was honored. In addition to her husband, Glen Friedman ’86, Alita was supported by several of her friends, such as Lorraine (Helfgott) Bellush, Kim (Rosuck) Reimann and Maryanne (Begega) Grycan, who drove in from the tri-state area and attended the dinner. Friday night of our reunion started with an ’87 cocktail party sponsored by our reunion committee at Seven Sirens Brewery in Bethlehem adorned with our ’87 balloons. The openair bar is in an amazing location and soon became the happening spot for all of the ’80s classes in attendance, including those from ’85 and ’86. We all were excited to see one another after so many years apart. Most of us traveled from near, but many traveled from far away. Giselle (Francois) Marfeet came fromGuyana, one of our “furthest traveled” alumni. Jon Lauer made the trip fromWashington State via Fire Island. Laura Provenzale traveled to her frst reunion from San Francisco. Adrianne (Kodisch) McMullen made the trip fromDallas. Karen (Weinberg) Stein, Joe O’Neill and Todd Silva traveled up fromFlorida. There was a great showing of the Greeks, including Crow, Alpha Phi, Lambda Chi, AOPi and Gamma Phi. More to follow on that inmy next column. It was a late night for many, as we headed to various venues in South Bethlehem for dinner on Friday after Seven Sirens. Many ventured to Zest, the new chic restaurant in Bethlehem, and some of us hit late night at the Tally Ho. I was shocked to see the number of folks who arrived at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning at Rauch to prepare for the parade. At our parade, frsttime reunion attendees like Robert Freeman carried the fag and signs, Will Adams proudly wore a Bon Jovi wig and danced at the fnish line and committee member Andy Cagnetta also sported an ’80s wig. Again, thank you to the parade committee. Without them, it would have been our usual fop, but they stepped up to the challenge! It was so amazing to see everyone … but I failed to write down little details like I usually do! Fortunately, David Donnelly provided me with an update of his crew. According to David, a contingent of ’87 Delta Chi brothers and little sisters were at the reunion, enjoying all the weekend had to ofer, including a visit to the house on the Hill, and they were joined by those from ’86 and ’88 (apparently, they substituted ’88 for ’85). David and his wife, Sue (Covert) Donnelly ’88, from Lititz, Pa., returned for the frst time in years. They were happy to tell everyone about their three daughters, including the engagement of their oldest, Colleen, and a great frst year of law school for Meg, their youngest. Dave has been at Hershey for over 30 years (he must really like chocolate), and Sue is a software engineer. Ted Rudel and wife Ellen (Villegas) Rudel ’86 were celebrating Ted’s recent partial retirement and their daughter Holly’s candidacy for a Ph.D. in chemical and environmental engineering at Yale. Mary (Ralston) Bassett regaled the group with tales of her busy life in Philadelphia, including running a business with her husband and son. Caroline (Zraket) Pratt (the notorious CAZ) had several ’87 friend groups bidding in the auction for her time; the Delta Chi team is confdent they won but fear she will raise the opening bid and set a high reserve at this year’s Lehigh-Lafayette game. Jackie (Maher) McGlone ’86, Sue (Roden) Clarke ’88, Mike Keenan ’86 and Lisa (Fauci) Keenan ’86, and Doug Grierson ’86 and partner in crime Janice Klein rounded out the Delta Chi crew, along with Sue (Knippenberg) Dondero and her husband, Mike. Sue told stories of their insanely active life with newly initiated teen daughter Emily, and she was also the wrangler for the group over the weekend, making sure all had fun and none got lost— some things never change! We are limited by space, but no worries—next time, we will continue with the low-down on the reunion. I hope to see many of you at a tailgate at Lehigh this fall or at an ’87 get-together! We certainly are a great class, shown by our award-winning reunion. Wish you all the best. ’88Dave Best, dave@ bestcollegeconsult ing.com It is hard to believe that the planning has begun for our 35th reunion! Not sure how that can be, but please mark June 8-11, 2023, on your calendars! If you are interested in helping out, please reach out. The Class of 1987 set the record for the university’s best-attended 35th reunion ever this year. Let’s eclipse that mark next year! Additionally, here is an update from Kellie Fisher, our fearless, fun former class columnist who is busy helping friends and clients buy and sell homes inMonmouth and Ocean County, N.J., and her side hustle. She is also keeping busy with charity work. She is consulting for a start-up low volatility hedged equity business, Millbank Dartmoor Portsmouth (mdpvol.com) and on the executive committee of WEforum Group (weforumgroup.org), working on educating our local area on various health and wellness topics. When Kellie is not working or walking the dogs, she is busy gardening, renovating her new home in Silverton or trying to meet up with various Lehigh and local friends. ’89Jocelyn (Gitlin) Deutsch, 9 Vincent Lane, Armonk, NY 10504. jocelyndeutsch@hotmail.com FA L L 2 0 2 2 | 6 1
