Lehigh Business Strategic Direction

LEHIGH COLLEGE OF BUSINESS • 2 LEHIGH COLLEGE OF BUSINESS • 3 BUSINESS.LEHIGH.EDU BUSINESS.LEHIGH.EDU In the ensuing period the College made astounding progress in all five identified areas of focus. We completely overhauled the undergraduate core curriculum, launched the M(2) and 1-MBA programs and successfully inaugurated a profitable executive education program. Our faculty has grown from 77 to 91 (including creation of new department) representing the best talent across the disciplines with research productivity pushed to a new level. Following an extensive and inclusive visioning and needs assessment process we successfully raised sufficient funds to build a new 74,000 square foot building to complement our existing building. Construction on this new structure is scheduled to begin early 2021 with anticipated occupancy of fall 2022. We have created/revitalized several research centers: Center for Financial Services (new), Goodman Center for Real Estate (revitalized), Center for Supply Chain Research (new). The centers join the Martindale Center in providing the link between our College and industry professionals. Newmedia platforms include the iLUminate blog and podcasts and the Executive Edge video series. Our faculty are also frequently quoted in popular press. I N MARCH 2016 the faculty of Lehigh College of Business (then known as the College of Business and Economics) adopted the Strategic Direction document entitled “Bold Ambitions” to guide growth of the College over a five-year window. Bold Ambitions had five directional strategic goals: 1 Build out the cornerstones of business education: Undergraduate, Graduate (MBA, Masters and Doctoral) and Executive Education) 2 Hire and retain top-tier faculty dedicated to teaching and research 3 Ensure that our facilities and technology keep pace with the transformations driving businesses forward. 4 Establish College thought leadership in business practice as we strengthen industry engagement 5 Share the exciting story of the College with key audiences who have a stake in and can influence the College’s success We will build on the solid foundation laid by Bold Ambitions to focus the vision of the College over the next five year period. We will pivot from the perspective of comparison to other business schools to celebrating and expanding our strengths and define our goals by our own aspirations rather than comparative metrics. Our innate and distinctive talents as scholars, teachers and citizens underpin this strategic vision and prompt us to envision how to use these talents to break boundaries to achieve greater heights as a modern business school. Breaking boundaries compels us to come out of our comfort zone, venture into new territories and embrace the change we want to see. We commit to break boundaries with our students, with our research and with our community.
