20-21 LTS Annual Report

Produced six On Stage At Home full-length performances, 24 Spotlight performances, and six Spotlight Spinoff interview videos for the Zoellner Arts Center, which were shared with over 50,000 email recipients. Recorded and produced a performance of J.S. Bach's Partita No. 2 in D Minor for Solo Violin by Music Professor of Practice in Orchestral Strings Michael Jorgensen at Zoellner Arts Center. Supported the 2021 Commencement by setting up a live camera for the creation of a time-lapse video of the assembly setup, commencement activities, and disassembly. We presented several Founders Day and Family Weekend webinars: Lehigh Trivia with the Archivist, What’s Worth Keeping?, The Academic Semesters That Went Remote: What Do Libraries Do Now?, and, in partnership with the Center for Career and Professional Development, Becoming a 21st Century Librarian. Librarians adapted an in-person Escape Room program for first-year students into a highly successful interactive virtual 5x10 session, which challenged over 90 participants to unlock the room by using library resources, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. In partnership with Development and Alumni Relations, Special Collections hosted a Mountain Talk, The Rivalry According to Lehigh, an exploration of highlights from the 136-year-old Lehigh-Lafayette Rivalry, with facts and fiction, turning points, new-andold traditions, and more—all accessible through Lehigh Athletics’ historical collection preserved in the Libraries’ digital archives. Special Collections curated, designed, and installed the Visit Imaginary Places! exhibit to inspire the campus community and beyond to accept an open invitation to explore Lehigh’s varied collections. Travelers have the opportunity to see utopias, Atlantis, Lilliput, Camelot, Wonderland, and more—all with no passport required! These imaginary places are available for discovery in this exhibit and in Lehigh’s Special Collections. Vice Provost Greg Reihman and Chief Technology Officer Ilena Key participated in the Faculty Town Hall: Post-Pandemic Innovation in Teaching & Learning with Provost Nathan Urban and Interim Deputy Provost for Graduate Education, Oliver Yao. Distance Education and Digital Media Studio teams helped other offices offer hybrid or remote events. Some examples: We joined with a variety of Lehigh representatives at the New Employee Orientation to welcome 75 incoming Lehigh staff and introduce them to our services and how to receive library and technology support. As teaching, learning, and business operations moved largely online, so too did the events held every semester across the university. The Office of Distance Education supported over 50 high profile and impactful events sponsored by each college, numerous departments, programs, and administrative areas including the Kenner Lecture, ERAC’s Knowledge at Noon, Provost town halls for students, faculty and staff, job fairs, and more. We partnered with the Lehigh University Art Galleries and Notations for the Doing Democracy series through Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, which used art from the LUAG Doing Democracy exhibit and poetry as prompts for dialogue around civic identity and engagement. LTS leadership hosted a Virtual Open House over winter break to share the year's highlights, plans for the spring semester, and to answer questions from the Lehigh community. Each year, The Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries hosts the Harvest of Ideas: A Celebration of Lehigh Authors with a reception in Linderman Library. In 2020, the 9th annual Harvest of Ideas was celebrated through a virtual recognition website, featuring the works of 23 faculty who published or edited a book or composition during the previous year, alongside their commentary. This site will grow over the years to complement future in-person receptions, allowing the Lehigh community to explore and revisit the work of Lehigh authors.
