LIBRARY AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES P - - - AGE 32 5 Learning While Earning: LTS Student Employees LTS is one of Lehigh’s largest student employers, offering a spectrum of roles from basic entry-level jobs to highly specialized positions working with innovative and cutting-edge technologies. In AY 23-24, LTS employed 180 students in areas such as Lending Services, LTS Help Desk, the Digital Media Studio, Special Collections, the TRAC Fellows program, Student Technology & Repair Services (STARS), and more. Hashem Alhattab ’26, Chemical Engineering, Library Student Assistant “Working in LTS has significantly improved my troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially when it comes to resolving technical issues related to login systems, library check-ins/check-outs, and visitor guidance. I’ve also enhanced my customer service and communication skills, as well as effi ciently managing my time while balancing multi ple tasks. It is fulfilling to know that my role helps others access essential resources and services that enhance their academic experience.” Angela Cui ’25, Computer Science and Business (CSB), Student Web Developer in Web & Mobile Services “I’ve gained skills in Drupal 7 and Drupal 9, DubBot, and SaaS during my 2.5 years as a Student Web Developer in LTS Web & Mobile Services. I learned how to do theme upgrades, create templates for the Lehigh Provost staff directory, migrate Drupal 7 sites to Drupal 9, and perform regular maintenance for over 150 of Lehigh’s web sites. These skills in addition to my coursework in classes like CSE 216, CSE 241, CSE 017, and DES 070 helped me obtain a Web Development and Design internship at Tech With Heart Foundation.” Mariah Alvarado ’25, Sociology, Marketing, Communications, TRAC Fellow “Since joining the TRAC program, I have had the pleasure to be a part of such a unique pocket of the Lehigh community. Whether it be through our biweekly staff meetings, or Veteran Fellow Seminars, one thing is clear: TRAC is not just a writing fellows program. Together, we’ve reached tens, even hundreds, of students in order to foster growth in our community. I’m proud of the communication, networking, and leadership skills I’ve developed through the TRAC Program.” Rohil Bhingarde ’24, Business Analytics, Graduate Student Assistant, Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning “My time in CITL led to a dive deep into the world of Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality. This experience helped me realize how technologies like VR headsets can dramatically enhance learning and teaching for both students and professors. Aspiring to become a Product Manager, CITL has provided me with hands-on knowledge by demo testing technolo gies such as the Meta Quest, HTC Vive, and the I-wall server. Helping implement VR in various courses at Lehigh has been a cornerstone of my experience.” STUDENT COMMENDATION Manish Turlapati ’G25, Library Student Supervisor (pictured far left), alongside Lending Services Coordinator Tyler Keck, acted swiftly and decisively during a medical emergency at Linderman Library in December, earning them commendation from the Lehigh University Police Department.
