In March, the LTS D&I Committee hosted a potluck for LTS staff, celebrating community and casual conversation. Attendees brought personally significant dishes and used conversation starters to share cultural insights. Staff also participated in empathy-building VR experiences, including MLK: Now is the Time, Notes on Blindness, and Anne Frank House VR. ▶ D&I Committee members created several compel ling digital slideshows for our libraries, including Lehigh Ladies of Impact in celebration of Women’s History Month and Winter Holiday Origins. Phil Hewitt completed his two-year term as the LTS Diversity & Inclusion Committee representative on the Council for Equity and Community (CEC). This year, Phil was involved with finalizing Lehigh’s new Inclusive Excellence staff award, which recognizes and honors a staff member for outstanding contributions to research, administration, practice, advocacy and/or policy, and whose work informs and advances the understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at Lehigh. Events & Exhibitions With the opening of the spring exhibit, “Rediscovering Miles Rock,” students and visitors had the unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of one of Lehigh’s earliest graduates. The exhibit provided insight into the intriguing life of Miles Rock, who, much like today’s students, reacted to the world around, pursued an education, and subsequently a career that took him around the globe. It included photo graphs and correspondence from the archive, telling first-hand the story of the life of Miles Rock, the only Lehigh student to have served in the American Civil Rediscovering Miles Rock, May 2 & 3: (clockwise from left) Exhibit tours in Linderman Library, presentation and panel discussion, and Miles Rock collection artifacts.
