Sharon Wiles-Young Sharon Wiles-Young retired on May 31, 2023, capping a distin guished 31-year career in the Lehigh Libraries, most recently as Director of Library Access Services. Under her leadership, the Libraries flourished as a model of experi mentation and technical innovation that improved access to library resources and ser vices for students, faculty, staff, and scholars. She led Lehigh through transitioning to the Mellon Foundationsupported Open Library Environment (OLE) in 2014 and later introduced the pioneering FOLIO platform in 2020, making Lehigh one of the first academic libraries in the world to fully migrate to the open source Library Services Platform. Collaborating with global institutions, the FOLIO project has become a major success, ben efiting over 3,000 librarians worldwide and enhancing lending, acquisitions, analytics, and collaboration. Sharon's technical expertise, energy, and devotion contributed significantly to Lehigh's Libraries. Adept at forging partnerships, her transformative initiatives facilitated access to digital collections and improved library spaces. Known for fostering staff development, she encouraged leadership and professional growth opportunities for her staff. Notably, she orchestrated the reorganization of substantial collections during library renovations, while maintaining seamless ser vices for the campus community. She was elected to OLE and FOLIO Product Councils and chaired the latter for two years. Sharon also served on several PALCI committees including as co-lead for the PALCI Retrospective Collections Committee, and chaired the PaLA Technical Services Roundtable. Greg Reihman, Vice Provost for Library and Technology Services, said of her contributions, “The impact of Sharon's work extends across Lehigh. She has had a significant influence on the library profes sion, envisioning future needs, leading innovation, and building partnerships that have led to important change here and across the globe.” Margaret Petrovich After a remarkable 45 years of service to Lehigh, Margaret Petrovich retired from her position as security coordinator in Identity and Access Management (IAM) on June 30, 2023. Margaret held a pivotal role assist ing new students, faculty, and staff in establishing their computer accounts, essential for accessing university systems and services, handling password inquiries, and providing general account management support. Her career at Lehigh began in 1978, having held various roles within the Libraries, including as a library accountant until 1999. She later transitioned to the Computing Center as Client Communications Coordinator, supporting Lehigh computing accounts and managing account requests, eventually becoming the Security Coordinator in 2016 where she managed Banner access and served as the primary contact for IAM matters. Margaret was recognized with several awards during her career, including the Perry & Carol Zirkel Nonexempt Staff Award and the Lehigh Tradition of Excellence Award. Forest Crowley, Information Security Architect, said “Margaret’s reputation is not only for her excellent work and diligence, but also as a great friend to many of us. I know that I speak for everyone in LTS when I say that she will be greatly missed.”
