PAGE 28 LIBRARY AND TECHNOLOGY SERVICES 7 Strengthening Community, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion LTS Diversity and Inclusion Events Out on Campus: A History of LGBTQ+ Activism traveling exhibit reception at Linderman Library, March 2022. ► The LTS D&I Committee organized an LTS group attendance at a performance of Fences, a 1985 play by American playwright August Wilson that explores race relations and African-American experience in Pennsylvania in the 1950s. Part of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University, held in August. ► Held an Intercultural Communications Workshop, a collaboration with ICAPE and the Office of Fellowship Advising in OIA, in November. The workshop focused on how to engage in mindful dialogue in the work environment where interactions are influenced by body language and facets of individualistic versus collectivist cultures. ► Hosted a workshop in December, Collaborating Across Generations, covering how world events and influential people shape each generation and their workplace style, how it is changing now, and how to use those diverse perspectives in the work place today. - ► Food dishes are prepared differently for various reasons, including cultural, ethical, religious, medical, and/or sentimental. In January, the D&I Committee hosted a potluck with LTS staff celebrating community and casual conversation. Attendees brought a dish that held a personal significance to them. ► In June, staff literally dug deep during Therapeutic Power of Plants with Brown Skin Plant Mama. In this personal development event, staff partici pated in mindfulness and journaling exercises while learning about plant therapy as a scientifi cally-proven stress reliever, mood enhancer, and overall powerful wellness practice. Each participant awakened their creativity by painting planter pots and repotting plants that they could take with them. - -
