Giving Day Recap 2022

RISING TO THE CHALLENGE Lehigh people know how to unite to get the job done – how to build momentum, exceed expectations, and build legacies of lasting impact. Even before students sat down for their first classes on Giving Day, we met our first challenges. We continued that energy all day, crossing off challenges late into the night. We achieved the following together: • The Lehigh community showed tremendous dedication, completing 92% of Giving Day challenges this year. • Completing initiatives immediately built a bolder, brighter future for Lehigh students, unlocking an additional $249,000 in matching gifts to enhance the student experience. • Student Experience » Marching 97, led by student Rose Rush ’23, had a stellar performance, with 65 donors raising $9,175. • Jewish Student Life » Jewish student life more than doubled their 2021 totals, with 67 donors pledging $15,777, including an anonymous donor who matched the first $5,000, dollar for dollar. • Pride Center » The Pride Center got a boost when Sandra Denton ’83 sparked support, challenging 20 donors to make gifts and contributing $2,000 when donors rose to the occasion. Overall, 72 donors raised $7,549 for the Pride Center. • Advancement of Black Excellence » Following the generous leadership of Roger Bohl ’59, who challenged 50 donors to support the Dr. Frank Douglas ’66 Endowed Scholarship, 113 donors raised over $53,500 – including a $50,000 gift from Bohl. THE CLASS OF 1967 won the Undergraduate Alumni Class Affinity Challenge THE CLASS OF 2011 won of the Young Alumni Class Affinity Challenge • Soaring Together » In celebration of 50 years of coeducation at Lehigh, Maria Chrin ’87 ’10P donated $50,000 to the Women of Lehigh Scholarship Fund after 500 women made a Giving Day gift. “These gifts literally change lives in incredible ways. Giving Day efforts have helped us to centralize our work around fundraising and help us to meet our annual fundraising goal.” –Scott Burden, Director, Pride Center for Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity 4 | stay connected with alumni.lehigh.edu
