64 | LEHIGH ALUMNI BULLETIN | CLASS NOTES was managing the internship search, and she was selected over all of the other qualified candidates (all on her own merit), proving once again how Lehigh students stand out in the pack. I heard from Danielle (Klemow) Young, who is enjoying life with her husband and three wonderful kids: Sydney, 15; Hudson; 13; and Alexa, 11. She says it’s too soon to say if they are Lehigh bound. Adam Ciperski sent in the following note: “I am coming up on my second work anniversary at ThoughtSpot. I lead the worldwide customer success management team. I reside in Miami, Fla., with my wife and two children. My son, Theo, is starting his BFA in theater at NYU Tisch this fall. My daughter, Sofia, is headed into her junior year of high school. She competes on the swim and water polo teams. Both teams finished second in the state this year. My wife, Carla, leads the Amazon Web Services Central America and Caribbean teams. I am proud to stay connected with Lehigh by participating in the mentoring program with the football team. It’s been great to be connected with the team and my teammates.” Please keep sending me updates, as it’s wonderful to hear from everyone. I look forward to seeing the campus continue to blossom as our daughter Madison enters her Lehigh journey this fall. ’94 Michael B. York, 575 West End Avenue #9A, New York, NY 10024; michael.york@nyplaw.com; (917) 575-9391 By the time you read this, hopefully, you will have responded to the semi-annual email from me begging for updates. Just hit reply, or I am stuck writing clever (OK, not that clever) comments about Andy Frishman’s latest trip to Tierra Del Fuego in search of a new bride. A number of our classmates have kids at Lehigh this fall: Noelle (Watson) Hallahan and Derick Hallahan’s daughter Annie will be a freshman; Annie Cassell Weibel’s son Cameron will start his sophomore year; Jill Triani and Jamie Flinchbaugh’s son Jack is a sophomore; and Erika Giemza Zaiser’s son Jacob is also a sophomore. Laura (Hite) Lawhead and Scott Lawhead live in Altoona, Pa., where Scott is a VP for Rexel. Their son Nathan (24) graduated JMU and works at MAI Capital Management in Reston, Va.; Mitchell (22) graduated Lehigh with a business management degree and is in the technical entrepreneurship master’s program at Lehigh this year; and Scotty (20) is a junior at JMU, studying nursing. Meg (Chianese) Durkin and Ted Durkin’s daughter Mollie is a Lehigh sophomore; she gave a school tour to Becky Rimmer Antczak’s son Ted, who starts his freshman year this fall. Heather (Coogan) Hrap married Don Hrap this past March. Her son Shane was also married this summer. As part of her job at ConocoPhillips, Heather recently threw out the first pitch at a Houston Astros game and rang the opening bell at the NYSE! Heather took a trip with classmates Nirpa Desai, Mary Chaffier Banonis, Heather Davis Chemtob, Romy (Stengel) Hohenshilt and Brian Smith to the Jersey shore. Sadly, Heather reported the loss of our classmate Kari (Kukanskis) Vogt to cancer. As Heather said best, “The world is a little less bright without her infectious smile and laughter. We are all missing her.” Jen Long met her fiancé, Reid, over a birthday Zoom for David Mederrick ’95 in the heart of COVID in April 2020. As Jen said, “Reid liked what he saw on Tile #9 and slid right into the DMs.” They got engaged this past Memorial Day weekend. John Comas has been a financial adviser for Merrill Lynch for quite a while now. He and his wife live in mid-town NYC and have since 1994, but for the brief COVID stint when they lived in Gates Mill, Ohio. We gossiped about our classmates on an email exchange. Hoping there is no subpoena out there. Mike O’Hara is a regional director at Bohler, handling more policy issues in a political-focused role. He was recently elected as the cochair of the Washington, D.C., Economic Partnership, which is a public-private organization working to revitalize the downtown area. He and his wife have two kids, Brennan (11) and Quinn (7). His fraternity brothers from Delts are getting together to celebrate everyone turning 50. Garry Vermaas’ 12 kids are between the ages of 11 and 24. Ten of the kids are adopted (six from the Philippines, three from China and one from India. One is working, one got a full ride to Liberty Law School, one is in college, four are in high school, four are in middle school and one is in grade school. The whole family lives in Nashville. Scott Semptimphelter lives in Franklin, Tenn., working for Infoblox in IT/cyber security and runs his own QB training company. He and wife Traci have been married for 25 years. Their son, Nick, is a senior at Bucknell and will continue the legacy as the starting quarterback. Their daughter, Graci, is a sophomore basketball player at Ohio Wesleyan and their youngest, Cross, is a high school senior. Andrew Frishman owns his own clinic, known as Progressive Veterinary Hospital in Somers, N.Y., after having graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville’s vet school. Like the rest of us, his two kids play a lot of sports—when not staring at their iPhones. I really wish I could print the rest of what he wrote to me, but if you knew Andy, you’d know exactly why I cannot print any of it. ’95 Bridget O’Connell, 1840 Sycamore St., Bethlehem, PA 18017. (610) 8686605 (H); bmo3@lehigh.edu A few congratulations are in order for this column. First, congratulations to Dan Bird on his recent retirement after a 25-year career in investment banking. He shared that he is looking forward to new adventures in technology and media industries. Congratulations are also in order to Jason Fichter because his company, InSite Engineering, was named one of New Jersey’s Best Places to Work! Finally, Stacey Rentschler wrote that her “daughter Cassandra Friess is a member of the Class of 2026. I live in St. Louis, Mo., and work at Washington University as a physician scientist in cardiology.” ’96 Jen (Crimmins) Keen, 17 Windsor Drive, Foxborough, MA 02035. (508) 543-5036; jen@keensense.com Thank you to everyone who sent in information after my email request. I did so many updates, the news will be spread out over the next few Bulletins due to space limitations. Keep the updates coming, though! First, let’s start with our kids who are or were at Lehigh. I love that so many of us have shared our love of our alma mater with our kids and that they want to wear the Brown and White and be proud Mountain Hawks (and for those of you with the love of the Lehigh train logo, they still had it on a Christmas ornament at the bookstore!). From Donna (Hoerlein) Gallagher on Facebook: “Couldn’t be happier or more proud of Kristen! I had a feeling she loved Lehigh at
