CLASS NOTES | FALL 2023 | 59 ca, developing biologics which induce tumor regressions and cure. Not too bad for a kid from Easton. Attempts to prod Kratky to email me class news so far remain unsuccessful. In July, I had lunch at MV Trattoria in Bernardsville, N.J., with my fellow Basking Ridge, N.J., resident Kevin Clayton ’84 ATO, to catch up and rue the departure of his fraternity from campus. I was sad to see ATO go, as many of my finest friends were at that house. I had mentioned to Kevin that I still extend my condolences that his fraternity brother and my freshmen Gryphon, Thomas Knoop ’81, and Tony Miller ’80, had to tolerate a year of me and the fellow miscreants who lived in Taylor Hall. I last saw Tom in passing coming down the stairs at the assisted living facility where our mothers were residing. Stan King zinged me a line from Bali and asked if I know the whereabouts of classmate Social Blastoff, but I must profess all attempts to locate Social have failed. Rumor is that he is living now near Le Havre, France, in a rather secluded location with an occasional cryptic contact with my fraternity brother who owns a soccer team there, Vincent Volpe ’80. Fortunately, I am duly informed by Vince that there is still a place there that delivers pizza at 3 a.m. Social, if you are reading this, email me a line. Until next time. ’83 Nancy Liu Freedman, nancyliulehigh83@gmail.com Happy fall, Class of ’83! We had a blast at the 40th reunion. I hope those who attended had a wonderful time. Before I share info on our reunion, here is some news from fellow classmate. From the Inbox Rich Jones writes, “I now live in Austin, Texas, our eighth move that covered Texas, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. I worked for DuPont in IT for many years, broken up by a few years in Houston with small start-ups and then back to DuPont for a few more years. I now work for Keysight, doing M&A work. Keysight makes test measurement equipment and has its roots in the original Hewlett Packard. Our retired Keysight CEO, now chairman of the board, is Ron Nersesian ’82. I have three kids, none of whom went to Lehigh, despite my best efforts. They live in Colorado, Texas and Washington, D.C. My wife and I are now married 35 years, and one of our favorite things to do is mentor couples who are about to get married. We take them through a nine-week program, called Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, that helps them get their marriage off to a great start. We’re about to start our ninth couple. In addition, I like to run. I’m just about to hit 20K lifetime miles. I’ve completed 11 marathons, including two Boston marathons. April 2024 will mark my third time to run Boston.” 40th Reunion Weekend We had an enthusiastic group of classmates performing the ’80s-themed parade routine. I can tell that things are going well by your taciturn silence, so there is little news to report. Also, I have given up stalking (cyber and otherwise) due to my cross-town move. Nevertheless, I would like to hear your news, so drop me a line. I only include what you want me to include in the column. Don’t hesitate—give me your news today. Are you pondering what I am pondering? Graduation day was 39 years ago, which means that we are heading into the 40th reunion next year. I encourage you to attend the reunion because it is a blast every time. How many opportunities do you have to socialize with a wide cross-section of our esteemed class? Speaking of which, our own Mary Beth (Cooleen) Tully was appointed to the board of trustees for a four-year term starting July 1. Mary Beth has had a vibrant and storied career, both in the public and nonprofit sectors, serving on the United Hospital Fund’s board of directors, member of the board of Palladia, Inc. and as president of the Lehigh Alumni Association Board of Directors. She has advocated for Greek life as an alumnae volunteer chapter adviser for Alpha Phi as well as being named to the Alpha Phi Foundation Board of Directors. Her accomplishments in these endeavors are equally impressive, and I cannot do them justice here. Make sure you read her biography on the Lehigh News website for the
