CLASS NOTES | FALL 2023 | 55 who keep them busy. According to Rick, it is not the best former runners who win after turning 60, but rather those who never give up! Steve Folsom, a Chi Psi brother and swimmer, also responded. Steve relayed how fortunate he feels to have had a run of a different sort, working for an IT company for over 35 years, starting soon after our graduation when it was a small company to when he retired with over 150,000 employees in many countries. Steve’s run with the company first took him to the Middle East, where he met his English wife, and they ended up living in Mexico and the U.K., while raising two boys who became lawyers and now live in London and Hong Kong with their own families. After Mexico, Steve lived and worked in the Netherlands and Madrid and then back to the U.K. Steve reports that he has lived only 13 months in the United States since we graduated. Since retiring, Steve also took up senior sports—swimming, in this case. Steve has won two bronze medals in the Seniors World Championships. He is also one of the managers of a food bank in London. As can be imagined, Steve travels extensively throughout Europe and to Hong Kong to be with his extended family. Howard Brodbeck, a Gryphon, reports that he and wife Cheryl (Ross) Brodbeck ’76 continue to visit their grandkids in the U.K. Howard is still playing his guitar. He has invited anyone interested to view his group on YouTube at Mynewbrain. Keep playing, Howard! Though I often mention our class co-president, Jeff Sherman, I seldom present any information about him. Jeff retired one year ago from a position as a senior litigation paralegal for a law firm in NYC, where he resides; he worked on large trials in NYC and elsewhere around the country. He is enjoying his extra free time as an avid hiker, runner and sailor. Jeff is also a yoga enthusiast, having completed a rigorous 200-hour study program to be certified as a teacher. He is a member of the Lehigh Alumni Association Board of Directors and was recently appointed senior vice president, which means that he is likely to become president of the Alumni Association. Jeff volunteers to interview applicants for Admissions and manages our class Facebook page. He and our other class co-president, Marilyn Blacher-Reich, head up the wonderful reunion committee for our 50th! If you are interested in volunteering to help out, please let Jeff know (jjsherman@gmail.com). ’76 Mark E. Goehring, 10 Princeton Drive, Shamong, NJ 08088. (609) 841-0389 (C); MarkGoehring LU76@gmail.com; Look for me on Facebook! Greetings, classmates, and my apologies for missing the summer column. The new look of the Bulletin is just full of style, energy and information … and, wow, those back pages of class columns are over 30 pages now and are still the first pages we all turn to! Here’s the news: My wife, Mary, and I had lunch with Joe Sterrett and Cindy (Glueck) Sterrett in Ocean City, N.J., in June. Actually, we introduced them to our favorite spot, Twisties, in Strathmere. They spent the OC week chasing grandkids around, digging sandcastles and, of course, enjoying the boardwalk. In all these years writing about classmates and meeting LU grads on campus or in my travels, nobody carries the Lehigh flag better than Joe and Cindy—and their children! Speaking of carrying the flag, second to them is Bruce “YoGi” Perry, as he has literally carried the flag every August for our class in the traditional Rally parade. At this year’s reunion, YoGi and I gathered with fraternity brothers to celebrate 50 years for Zeta Psi. We even marched in the reunion parade! We lost our house in 1999, and for a lot of us, the passion lived on as Zetes have been loyal to and active with Lehigh, from teaching to volunteering at many levels to this day. We did arrange to tour our house, and it reminded me of some of the settings I later saw in the Barbie movie! The thousands of Lehigh brothers who proudly lived in a fraternity and now have no home there because of a few, will never forget those times of friendships, responsibilities and fun! And for too many of us, we are sad that Lehigh kind of forgot about us. All of those great fraternities have legacies and contributions to Lehigh much longer than our Zetes 50th! Recently, I was reading New Jersey Business magazine and there was a section called the N.J. CEO Business Roundtable, comprised of influential executives, and there on page 47 was our own Ralph Albert Thomas, CEO/executive director of the New Jersey Society of CPAs. His article thoughts were to focus on culture and recruitment and that the NJCPA take special emphasis on helping staff advance their value through upskill training and responsible learning. Ralph is also in that top tier in passion for Lehigh and our class. I talked with another Lehigh top gun, Paul Leitner, recently. He proudly said that his three daughters are all happily married, and his first grandson, Paul, is now 3 years old, and he had a granddaughter born last spring. He said he is still playing tournament-level squash racquets but has given up heli-skiing! His quote: “They tell me Father Time is undefeated.” This is a perfect lead into Father Columnist for Class of ’76. This will be my last column as I now work with the LU staff in search of a replacement. After, I think, 46-plus years and probably 160 or more columns (I did miss some as I could only make up so much B.S.). I do know I broke the record for being fashionably late, as I always wanted the columns to be finished after the mag was mailed and read, which was very rare! I have all or most of the Lehigh Alumni Bulletins since we graduated, all stored in our wine cellar, where my eight-track stereo is — and, yes, about 25-plus working eight-tracks! To the great Class of 1976, it has been an honor, and I only wish I could have encouraged more to write, more to visit Lehigh and more to engage and reminisce. Cheers to all, and see you at our Lehigh 50th in June of 2026! Editor’s note: Our deepest thanks to Mark Goehring, who has served as class correspondent since graduation. As he steps away from the role, we so appreciate the years of effort and humor he shared with us. He has also served the class in many other volunteer roles and was honored for his commitment to Lehigh with the Alumni Award in 1991. If you are interested in becoming your class’s correspondent, reaching out to classmates and writing a column three times a year, please contact the Alumni Office at 610-758-3686 or classnotes@ lehigh.edu. ’77 Ann Louise (Werley) Price, 2 Colton St., Farmington, CT 06032. (860) 677-1295 (H); prokemo@comcast.net I am beyond grateful to those of you who reached out and sent in some news! We are doing the FIFO method of reporting (for you non-accounting majors, “first in, first out”), so here goes! Ric Price and Kathy (Schmidt) Price are doing great in East Grand Rapids, Mich. Ric writes, “We are blessed to have two of our sons here in town with five grandchildren and our youngest son in Pittsburgh with a new
