GRADUATE PROGRAMS Outcomes/Careers Ph.D. graduates have secured research positions at prestigious academic institutions including MIT, Baylor, Yale, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, and University of North Carolina. Many have continued in academia and currently hold tenure-track positions. Others are employed at pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Johnson and Johnson, and Aventis. Over 90% of graduate students receive funding in the forms of Teaching Assistantships, Research Assistantships, Fellowships, or Scholarships. Please contact the graduate director for more specific details about funding in the biology department. Research Statement Graduate students are a part of a research team, which includes the faculty advisor, research scientists, post-docs, and undergraduate students, as well as collaborators from other institutions in the United States and abroad. Students are encouraged to rotate among different labs in order to gain firsthand lab experience, training in specific techniques, and one-on-one interactions with faculty.
