GRADUATE PROGRAMS Program Description Our Ph.D. program will train you in the investigation, exploration, and deep understanding of the biological sciences in diverse areas of research strength. To study natural systems is to understand past environments, our current environment, and the future of the Earth system. As global environmental changes accelerate, it is critical—now more than ever—to possess a broad and comprehensive understanding of the Earth sciences. We offer both M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in EES. Under a broad Earthsystems umbrella, students research the subdisciplines of ecology, environmental science, biogeochemistry, oceanography, geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Our M.A. graduates follow a variety of paths, with some students continuing their graduate work in Lehigh’s English department. Research Statement As a political science graduate student, you will have the opportunity to conduct your own independent research (as part of an independent study, master’s paper or thesis) or work with faculty members on their projects. Some recent student projects include studies of predatory lending practices in Lehigh Valley and regional Latino political activism, program reviews of the MarketTowns Initiative in the DelawareLehigh River Heritage Corridor and Community Action Committee of Lehigh Valley’s Green Futures Fund, and an evaluation of the impact of direct foreign investment on democratization in former communist-bloc nations. Program Description Lehigh's Department of Psychology provides you with the opportunity to pursue an M.S. or Ph.D. in Psychology that is distinctive, interdisciplinary, and research-focused. Expand your perspective and hone your methodologies as you discover new avenues of interdisciplinary research with complete access across programs, departments, and colleges. Our program trains you to become a sophisticated researcher, capable of independently conducting studies that make important contributions to your field and/or solve applied problems. We are committed to providing a supportive, enriching research environment. Students work closely with one or multiple faculty members and gradually develop into independent researchers. We accept mainly Ph.D. students, but also offer a Master of Science for a few well-qualified students each year. Ph.D. students will traditionally obtain a master’s degree in the process of working toward their doctorate. Our review of applications has always been holistic. We carefully consider all available information in each student’s application. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program are guaranteed 5 years of financial support, which should be a sufficient amount of time to complete the degree.
