Pg. 7 COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES / CHEMISTRY Program Description Earning a Ph.D. in chemistry at Lehigh will enable you to confidently enter the world of professional molecular problem solving. The program provides an approach to graduate education that trains students to be successful independent scientists in an increasingly interdisciplinary scientific world. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to achieve high impact results on various important scientific issues. Concentrations are offered in: • Analytical • Biochemistry • Inorganic • Organic • Physical Ph.D. students generally complete at least 4 years of full-time study, and work closely with faculty and peers to carry out cutting-edge research, advance their field, contribute to scientific literature, and develop skills to tackle complex challenges. As a professional chemist or biochemist, you are at the heart of science, working to connect the physical sciences with life and applied sciences, such as medicine and engineering. Financial Aid Teaching Assistantships / Research Assistantships / Fellowships - includes stipend + tuition Scholarships - tuition remission • Biointerfacial chemistry • Chemical force microscopy • Drug delivery • Electrochemistry • Gas separations • High-pressure chemistry • Lanthanide chemistry • Lipids • Membranes • Langmuir-Blodgett films • Membrane proteins • Multi-drug resistance • Nanoporous materials • Organometallic chemistry • Organofluorochemistry • Polymer chemistry • Solid State chemistry • Surface chemistry of metals and semiconductors • Vibrational spectroscopy of nanostructured polymers RESEARCH-ACTIVE FACULTY with specialization areas in: 15 replace smaller photo to show greater diversity among students in program.
