Van Buskirk ’62, Houston, Texas, Sept. 9, 2022. Mr. Van Buskirk was a member of the lacrosse team. He worked as a geophysicist for Chevron for 35 years. Larry A. Whitney ’62, New Bern, N.C., Oct. 20, 2022. Mr. Whitney was a Delta Sigma Phi brother. He retired from IBM. Thomas S. Cook ’63 Ph.D. ’71, Fairfield, Ohio, Aug. 21, 2022. Dr. Cook was a Delta Sigma Phi brother. He worked as an engineer at Rolls Royce for many years. He was also a member of the Asa Packer Society. Robert B. Hollinger Jr. ’63, Richmond, Va., Nov. 20, 2022. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Hollinger was also a Delta Phi brother. He worked in the IT space for many companies. His final position was as a consultant with Barrington Partners. Wilfred G. Mango Jr. ’63, Madison, Conn., Nov. 29, 2022. An Alpha Tao Omega brother, Mr. Mango was the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Fuller Company. During his tenure, Fuller built major skyscrapers in New York City, the stadiums for the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins, hospitals and hotels. He served on Lehigh’s Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats and its Business Advisory Council. For his dedication, he was honored with the Alumni Award in 1993. His children, Christian Mango ’96 and Alison Mango ’14, are members of the Lehigh family. Robert C. Haag ’64, Chattanooga, Tenn., Nov. 3, 2022. Mr. Haag spent the bulk of his career as CFO of Pringle Electrical Mfg. His daughter, Sharon (Haag) Anderson, is a member of the Class of 1997. Donald W. Mattson ’64, Fort Washington, Pa., Nov. 5, 2022. Mr. Mattson was a Delta Tau Delta brother and member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves and worked as a CPA for Price Waterhouse and, later, Conrail. Frank A. Rushong Jr. ’67, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Nov. 18, 2022. A Phi Gamma Delta brother, Mr. Rushong was also a member of the baseball team. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. He worked in a variety of jobs but retired from Shenk Company where he’d worked in sales and as CFO. His father, Frank Rushong, was a member of the Class of 1931. Allan P. Shumofsky ’64, Rockville, Md., Oct. 17, 2022. Mr. Shumofsky was a member of Tau Beta Pi honor society. He worked for the family business, Bamby Bakery, before becoming a CPA and working as an accountant in Connecticut. His daughter and son-inlaw, Julie (Shumofsky) Chivo and David Chivo, are members of the Class of 1989. Peter D. Hilton ’65, Concord, Mass., Oct. 27, 2022. Dr. Hilton taught mechanical engineering at Lehigh before owning his own consultancy. Michael J. Hudson ’65, New Milford, Conn., Aug. 26, 2022. Mr. Hudson spent his career as a computer analyst for IBM. After retiring, he started an independent computer consulting business, Hudson Computer Consulting Ltd. James B. Moran ’65, Normandy Beach, N.J., Oct. 18, 2022. A Sigma Phi brother, Mr. Moran was a founding partner of the firm Hoagland, Longo, Moran, Dunst and Doukas. His daughters, Mollie Moran Sheppard ’95 and Maggie Moran ’11, and son-in-law, Robert Sheppard ’92, are members of the Lehigh family. Walter H. Rice III ’65, Canton, N.C., Dec. 22, 2021. Mr. Rice was vice president of Liqui-Dri Foods for 17 years. Carlo F. Viola Jr. ’65, New Castle, Del., Sept. 21, 2022. A Sigma Chi brother, Mr. Viola worked for E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company for 32 years. His Lehigh legacy includes his brother, Donn Viola ’67, and Donn’s children, Carlyn (Viola) McCarthy ’92 and Donn Viola Jr. ’95. Robert J. He owned and operated Mapes Industries. Alan C. Miller ’74, High Point, N.C., Dec. 2, 2022. Rev. Miller served the United Church of Christ for over 40 years. He wrote a book titled “In My Weakness, You Are My Strength.” John A. Cheplick ’75, San Anselmo, Calif., Sept. 25, 2022. Mr. Cheplick was a member of the football team and a Beta Theta Pi brother. He founded Pensionalysis, which administers retirement plans for small- and medium-sized businesses across the Bay Area, and ran the business for 40 years. Kurt D.
