Security Infrastructure & Technology The IDEAL Office (part of Lehigh Campus Safety) manages the Lehigh Pass, all physical locks, identification cards, electronic access control readers, intrusion sensors, and door alarms across university properties. • Emergency Blue Light Phones: Campus safety is supported by more than 100 emergency phones located throughout campus, connected directly to the Campus Safety Communications Center. Policy Statement on Sex-Based Misconduct Lehigh University prohibits sexual assault (including rape, fondling, statutory rape, and incest), sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, intimate partner abuse (domestic violence and dating violence), and stalking (collectively termed Sex-Based Misconduct). These behaviors violate university values and will not be tolerated within our academic or residential community. Seek Immediate Medical Attention For sexual assault incidents, medical evaluations address immediate health concerns (such as physical injuries, sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy prevention) and preserve critical forensic evidence. • Forensic Evidence Timeline: Evidence can be collected at a hospital emergency room by a specially trained Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) or Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) within 96 hours of an assault. • Preserving Evidence: To preserve forensic evidence, do not bathe, shower, use the restroom, change clothes, or brush your teeth before a medical exam. If clothing has already been removed, place each item in a clean paper bag (not plastic). Preserve electronic evidence such as text messages, emails, and social media posts for stalking or relationship violence cases. 2. Reporting Incidents & Reporting Options Lehigh University strongly encourages reporting all incidents of Sex-Based Misconduct. Reporting parties have full autonomy regarding how and when they involve law enforcement: • Option A: Notify proper law enforcement authorities (LUPD or local municipal police). • Option B: Request assistance from campus authorities (Title IX Coordinator or LUPD) to notify local law enforcement. • Option C: Decline to report the incident to law enforcement.
