72 | LEHIGH ALUMNI BULLETIN | CLASS NOTES care systems through an engineering lens. In 2020, Lauren took the next step in her journey by starting at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Jefferson. Throughout medical school, she actively engaged in research and volunteer work, with a particular focus on underserved populations in Philadelphia. Now, as she embarks on the next phase of her career, Lauren has matched into pediatrics residency at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Her enthusiasm for pediatric care shines through as she eagerly anticipates training in pediatrics, with a keen interest in pediatric oncology. But Lauren’s journey isn’t just about her professional aspirations. She recently got engaged to Michael Cohen, and the couple is excited to start a new chapter together in NYC. Moreover, Lauren had the honor of running the United Airlines Half Marathon as part of Team Mims, alongside Bali Connors ’19, Katharine Keane ’19, Julia Reisner ’19 and Alexis Mims ’18. Together, they raised funds for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in honor of Lisa Mims. Jamie Korenberg’s journey through medical school at NYITCOM on Long Island has been nothing short of remarkable. As she enters her final year, with graduation on the horizon in May, Jamie’s dedication and hard work have culminated in a significant achievement: matching into OBGYN at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital. The news of her match brings with it a wave of excitement for Jamie and her partner, Eric, as they prepare to relocate in May. Throughout her time at NYITCOM, Jamie has demonstrated a deep passion for women’s health and a commitment to providing compassionate care to her patients. Her dedication to the field of obstetrics and gynecology is evident in her academic achievements and clinical experiences. As Jamie embarks on her residency at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, she is poised to make a significant impact in the lives of women and families in the community. Her enthusiasm, coupled with her strong work ethic and dedication to her patients, ensures that she will excel in her chosen specialty. Netta Cudkevich graduated with a bachelor’s of science in biology and a minor in psychology. She spent all four years in Dr. Vassie Ware’s lab studying the use of bacteriophages as antimicrobial agents for treatment of antibiotic-resistant strains of tuberculosis, which was instrumental in her decision to apply to medical school. After spending a year in NYC working as a care coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Netta moved to Boston to pursue her goal of becoming a doctor at Tufts University School of Medicine. In medical school, she became involved in both pediatrics and medical education curriculum building. Netta carries out research on how pediatric residency programs integrate adolescent obesity management strategies into their training curricula. Netta matched at Boston Children’s Hospital for her pediatric residency training. She is extremely excited and hopes to pursue an academic career as a pediatric critical care physician! ’20 Evan Choy egc320@alum. lehigh.edu Happy summer to my fellow Class of 2020 Lehigh alums! As the weather has been getting warmer, there’s been more and more Lehigh events in my local area in NYC (shout-out to the NYC Alumni Club on its recent relaunch). Another academic year is behind us (for all of those pursuing advanced degrees, you’re doing great!), and I hope all of you get to enjoy the summer. Here’s an update from some of our classmates: Hanna Skinner comes to my desk on recommendation from Kate Butscher, who was featured in our last note. Hanna currently resides in Chicago, working as a private equity associate at Concentric Equity Partners. While at Lehigh, she majored in economics and political science and was involved in Alpha Omicron Pi, the Martindale Honors program and UN Youth Representatives. Hanna’s favorite memory at Lehigh was the annual Turkey Trot, so it’s no surprise that she ran the Chicago Marathon in 2023. Hanna is also currently serving as a junior council member of two nonprofits: A Better Chicago and Bottom Line. Oliwia Krupinska resides in Providence, R.I., where they currently work as a policy analyst at the Northeast Clean Energy Council. At Lehigh, Oliwia majored in astrophysics and was involved in SPEAK, Eco House and the props and costumes department in theatre. When reflecting on their time at Lehigh, they look back at the community that set a trajectory for pursuing many of their now passions (special shout-out to Professor Mary Nicholas). Oliwia continues to promote well-being and clean energy after pursuing a master’s degree at Brown University. Oliwia remains active rock climbing, canoeing and exploring the White Mountains in New England. Tobi Owolabi comes upon high recommendation from previously featured Gen Nickerson. He currently resides in Los Angeles, working as a freelance photographer and director. Most recently, Tobi has served as the director’s assistant on “The Gutter,” which was a featured film at SXSW 2024. Tobi is certainly putting his degree in journalism and film to good use. While at Lehigh, many will remember Tobi from his involvement in University Productions, The Brown and White, Student Senate and the Black Student Union. He most notably served as the emcee for student events including DanceFest and Fusion. However, Tobi’s time at Lehigh was predominantly spent off the stage and on the front lawn listening to music and at the Lookout late at night. Nowadays, Tobi is involved with various music festivals, including Coachella and Camp Flog Gnaw. To get in touch, go follow Tobi's Instagram: @photosfromtobi.osfromtobi Thanks for tuning in for another note! If you know someone who should be featured in the next edition, or just want to chat Lehigh, reach out at egc320@alum.lehigh. edu. Enjoy the summer, and hope to see some of you at the reunion and a few of the local sendoffs in the fall! ’21 Eve Freed, evefreed1@gmail.com and Skyler McCabe, skylermccabe1@gmail.com Våren Lilley is currently a Peace Corps health volunteer living in Limpopo, South Africa.
