CLASS NOTES | SUMMER 2024 | 69 and come see all that’s new and exciting on campus. If you are interested in helping to plan the event and ensure great attendance, reach out to me, Marinee Cabrera, or Amy Gross, amg623@lehigh.edu. ’06 Kevin Frost, Kevin.Frost@alum. lehigh.edu Hello, Class of 2006! A big congratulations to Conor MacDonald, who passed the Massachusetts Bar Exam in 2023. Conor went back to school and earned a master’s in public humanities from Brown University in 2020. He then earned his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2023. Conor is now an attorney with Handy Law, LLC, and his practice focuses on renewable energy development, land conservation, real estate and municipal law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The year 2024 has been good for Mike O’Donnell. First, Mike recently started working onsite in Meta’s NYC office after working remotely in tech over the past few years. And second, he got engaged in March! Your classmates wish you all the best. Aneesh Varma checked in to say he launched a new start-up with a fellow Lehigh alum. Anyone who has watched Aneesh from afar since South Mountain shouldn’t be surprised! Aneesh is finishing his term as president of the Alumni Association and has served on the board for the past six years. After many back-and-forth non-update emails following my last two requests, I cajoled my friend Peter Green into providing an official update. Peter has worked with RUF at West Virginia University for the past seven years. His position is 100% donor supported (hint, hint). Peter has also stayed in touch with one of our international relations professors, Janice Mattern, for the past 15 years. With everything going on in the world, I think back to our days in the IR wing of Maginnes Hall with some regularity and wonder what it would be like to talk about Russia, Ukraine and NATO in 2024 with professors Barkey, Menon and Smolansky. Brian Regan and I have talked about this many times. Fortunately, we were all taught well and can at least close our eyes and hear Professor Smolansky, in his distinctive voice, discussing the issues of the day. As of this writing, Justin Shady and I are looking forward to a golf trip to Pebble Beach with a pre-Monterey stop in the Bay Area to hang with classmates Fred Nytko and Kai McFarland. If I don’t get updates for next time, I’ll have to give you all a hole-byhole breakdown of the trip. At least one of us doesn’t want that to happen (I’ll let you guess), so please continue to send those updates via email or LinkedIn! ’07 Brian Roth, Lehighclassof2007 @gmail.com Heather and Bryant Goehring welcomed their first child, Carter. He was born January 14. So far some of his favorite things are sleeping and being strolled around town by grandpa, Mark Goehring ’76. ’08 Olivier Lewis, olivier.lewis@alum. lehigh.edu For this edition, the Class of 2008 has amazing feats to announce, including accomplishments in the arts, politics and business. If you watched the 2023 Emmy Awards, you might have noticed that Josh Senior and colleagues won the Outstanding Comedy Series category for “The Bear.” The show won 10 Primetime Emmys in total. Bravo! On March 7, 2024, Christie (Jephson) Nicas went to Washington and attended the State of the Union as a guest of Congresswoman Susan Wild (PA, 7th congressional district). Congresswoman Wild is the House lead of the Access to Family Building Act, which would establish a statutory right to access in vitro fertilization (IVF). Two of Christie’s three children were conceived through IVF. You might recall that Nina Granberry launched a shortterm and mid-term rental company, BerthaSEED Properties. The company has gone from operating two units in January 2023 to now managing and operating 16 units across Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. Since October 2021, Nina has also been raising her two nieces, ages 2.5 and 4 years old. Phil Koehler has taken a job as interventional spine specialist at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Ellyn (McFadden) Enderlin was promoted to associate professor in geophysics with tenure at Boise State University. In November 2023, Ellyn and husband Pete welcomed Nicholas (“Nico”) Enderlin to their family. In April 2023, Kit, the third son of Alexandra (Fehring) Schickli, was born. In May 2023, Samuel Kirkpatrick went scuba diving in Fiji, and during the dive, he and Nina Spaeth got engaged. Samuel is a design responsible engineer for ANCA. Jennifer (Schwinghammer) Schleyer provides an update. Since 2014, she has been working as a mathematics teacher at Radnor High School. In July 2016, she and Bradley Schleyer married. They have two sons: Brody Schleyer was born in July 2017 and Jackson Schleyer in March 2020. So, overall, an impressive set of successes and special joys. Please feel free to share your Class of 2008 news with me at the email address above. ’09 Bobby Buckheit, lehighclass2009@ gmail.com Hello, all! Just a few updates from our class. As a reminder, if you have any updates to share, please reach out to LehighClass2009@gmail.com anytime. Thanks again for all of the updates! Elizabeth (Ginsberg) Michael shares that she just got her broker’s license and is now a broker's associate at Bramlett Residential in Austin, Texas. Jim and Katie (McClernand) Sacchetta welcomed their fourth child, Vincent (Vinny) Sacchetta, on Oct. 19. Big brothers Jimmy and Jack and big sister Cecilia love him to pieces! As shared by Kate Kodet, “Kati Pease kicked off 2024 by welcoming her second child, a daughter, to the world! Little Zoe will be traveling the world with her family in no time (and, honestly, probably has by the time this is published).” Kate Kodet also ran the LA Marathon for the fourth time in March and finally qualified for Boston! Congratulations—a huge accomplishment! Andrew Scharkss recently started a not-for-profit making origami for pets with emotional behavior disorders called Paper Planes for Pets. The group has just started its first chapter in Venice, aka Dog Town, and he’s eyeing national expansion. Laura Deutsch and husband Chris are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Eliza Charlotte Eakin. She joined the family last September, and big brother Carter (age 3) welcomed her with open arms, excited to show her all his toy cars and trucks. The family lives in Fairfax, Va., with their pup, Atlas. Corey Luthringer and Jordan Smith ’10 welcomed a second baby boy, Rowan Grey, on Nov. 8, joining big brother Callum. That is all from the 2009 crew. I hope all is well, and
