Sue (Stoup) McDonald is “still involved in the swim/ dive community.” She currently coaches the Souderton Area High School team that just completed another Pennsylvania state meet and is proud to have a diver who placed in the top 16 at the state championships. She also manages a pool in the summer. Sue and her husband live in Lansdale, Pa., and have two grown kids (one Lehigh Class of ’11, the other a U.S. Naval Academy graduate) and “one very large dog”! Cindy (Powell) Belliveau says, “Thanks in large part to my outstanding Lehigh education, I’ve had a fantastic career that is finally coming to an end.” She spent most of her career in the aerospace industry, both on the defense and commercial sides, working with “some of the most thrilling and advanced technologies. My career has allowed me to live and work in some wonderful places around our great country, including my final landing place in southern California. Most importantly, I’ve been able to raise two great kids living successful lives of their own.” While ending her engineering career, she is committed to her second career at her family business manufacturing specialty contact lenses in Anaheim, noting, “The fun never stops!” Alan Winters splits his time between New York City and Wilson, Wyo., where he enjoys numerous outdoor activities. He says, “I’ve been an executive coach since leaving the investment world back in 2016. While many of my clients are in the investment business, I enjoy working with all kinds of folks of all ages.” The flexibility of coaching gives him the freedom to do many other things (investing, nonprofit boards, volunteering, traveling). He married Sharon a few years ago, and they enjoy spending time with their combined five adult daughters in New York (two), New Jersey, Los Angeles and the south of France. Sounds like tough duty! Brian Woolford sends “g’day” to everyone, having just returned from an “incredible bucket list trip of a lifetime.” He enjoyed a 12-day cruise from Sydney and Tasmania to Auckland, exploring the sights and culture of three Australian ports and six New Zealand ports and passing through the Fiordland National Park. Brian is a tennis player, so a highlight was visiting Melbourne, home of the Australian Open and the Rod Laver tennis arena. He says, “I even swam four miles in saltwater pools to counter the cruise buffets.” Mark Hembarsky and Susan (Bregstein) Hembarsky were thrilled to fulfill a bucket list safari in Tanzania on a trip offered by the LU alumni travel program. They enjoyed sharing the experience with Pete Kershaw ’76 and his wife; Ross Hotz ’81 and his family, as well as Jennifer Cunningham ’28P, AVP of Alumni Relations. See the group photo on the Celebrations page of this Bulletin, proudly displaying the Lehigh flag on safari. ’81Tom Wocklish, twocklish@alum. lehigh.edu Rodger Hutley texted me while he and Jan (Kamon) Hutley were visiting a Montclair Mansion roomie, Martha (Dannies) Gribos. Martha was good enough to return my call and provide us with a brief update. Both Martha and her husband, Frank—a physical therapist and Boston firefighter, respectively—are retired. They are realizing the retirement dream that many of us have … load the pooch in the Travato and drive. When you see Martha, ask her if it’s true they have traveled through each of the 48 continental states. This year’s trips include the Outer Banks and visits with other Montclair Mansion roomies who didn’t return my call. In 2081, when a journalistic historian studies the Bulletin, no doubt there will be a way more esoteric word than existential. Both will have appeared in my writings. What’s up, folks? I’m making cold calls for some meat in this column and striking out. Spammers don’t leave an eloquent message like I do. You’ve taken the time to read this meager article. Take an extra minute to email me, “I’m alive.” That’s news that people who haven’t seen you in a while will be happy to hear. ’82 John P. Belardo, 152 Berkeley Circle, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. (973) 425-8755 (B); jbelardo@ mdmc-law.com. On Facebook, like “Lehigh University Class of 1982.” I spent 45 minutes the day before Easter on the telephone with Michael Whalen, of Delta Tau Delta. Mike keeps up with a ton of guys from the football teams from 1979 to 1982, as well as his Delta classmates Joe Macellara, Ed (Max) Hutter, Joe Rabuck, Scott Stouffer, Ward Parker and Ricky Kirshner. A bunch of Delts got together last April for Rob Mills’ wedding in Fort Lauderdale. They always see each other at the Jim Gum ALS Foundation Memorial Golf Tournament in Easton, as well as their annual “Big Bob” Delta reunion, which includes a lot of guys from Delta Upsilon as well. James Gum ’84 was a Delta brother and football player who succumbed to ALS in 2006. Mike and I were both born at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N.J., though he beat me into the world by six weeks. Mike has seven children—three with his second wife of 23 years, Heather, including a daughter at the University of South Carolina and a daughter in high school. Mike has achieved a tremendous career, including running the coffee futures desk at Phillips Brothers Trading, global account director at AT&T and with ADP. Somewhat bored with retirement, five years
