A Delta Sigma Phi member, VonderHeiden worked as a chemist for the PA Department of Environmental Protection. He was also a member of the Tower Society. Allan J. Brodsky ’57, Silver Spring, Md., July 28, 2024. Brodsky’s education was service-interrupted when he joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a small business owner. Jerome M. Creedon ’57, Frederick, Md., May 1, 2024. A Delta Tau Delta member, Creedon worked for IBM for 32 years, and another 15 years as a subcontractor. Walter H. Blackler III ’58, Skaneateles, N.Y., May 29, 2024. A Kappa Sigma member, Blackler was the owner of Apple Acres for over 60 years. His parent, William Blackler ’38, children, Anne Marie (Blackler) Reynolds ’82, Laurel (Blackler) Grow ’86 and Daniel Grow ’83, and grandchild, Patrick Grow ’13, are members of the Lehigh family. Richard H. Corbin ’58, Westport, Conn., June 27, 2024. A Pi Lambda Phi member, Corbin served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant in crypto-intelligence. He worked in new business development and management solutions for Innotech and Glendenning Consultants. His parent, Milford Cohen (Corbin) ’25, and his child, Peter Corbin ’92, are members of the Lehigh family. Donald C. Garaventi ’58, Boston, Mass., June 3, 2024. Garaventi was a Delta Upsilon member, as well as a member of the Glee Club. He worked for Rohm & Haas for nearly four decades. As an alumnus he volunteered extensively with his class and as an LUAA Board of Directors member. He was honored with the Alumni Award in 2003 for his service. Robert B. Mider ’58, Toms River, N.J., April 5, 2024. Mider was a member of Beta Theta Pi and the football team. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Army Reserves, and worked as a civilian for the U.S. government his entire career. Lee C. Owens ’58, Sydney, Australia, Jan. 2, 2024. A member of Theta Xi, as well as the Marching 97 and the Glee Club, Owens worked for the University of Sydney. Richard P. Schulz ’58 ’59, Haverford, Pa., May 29, 2024. Schulz was a member of the Marching 97 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for General Electric and then American Electric Power, before starting his own consultancy in his retirement. His parent, Donald Schulz, was a member of the Class of 1921. George E. Balbach ’59, Carolina Shores, N.C., May 21, 2024. Balbach spent his entire career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. John J. Kunda ’59, Scranton, Pa., Aug. 12, 2024. Hecht ’60, Orchard Park, N.Y., July 16, 2024. A Kappa Sigma member, Hecht worked for Williams Gold Refining as executive vice president. James L. Long ’60, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Aug. 3, 2024. Long made his career with Gannett Fleming, retiring as the water resources division head. He was a member of the Tower Society. Henry H. Pavony ’60, Stamford, Conn., June 2, 2024. Pavony was a member of Tau Delta Phi and the basketball team. He had a long career in finance, retiring from the Weizmann Institute as vice president and chief financial officer. His child, Shari (Pavony) Kurzer, is a member of the Class of 1992. Leonard R. Salvage ’60, Bethlehem, Pa., Aug. 1, 2024. Salvage was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Landes was a member of Kappa Sigma and the jazz band. He served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. He spent his career with Altemose Enterprises and as a commercial Realtor for Brode & Brooks Realty. William S. Maxfield ’61, Seminole, Fla., April 4, 2024. A member of Kappa Alpha and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Maxfield worked in insurance sales training. Thomas H. Parliment ’61, Seminole, Fla., July 8, 2024. Parliment was the recipient of a National Defense Graduate Fellowship. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a research chemist at General Foods/Kraft Foods for over 30 years. Robert S.
