74 | LEHIGH ALUMNI BULLETIN | CLASS NOTES living in an apartment, I assume you’re all much more interested in what the Class of 2026 has been up to. I’ll be sure to write a cookbook so you can all read my recipe successes and failures … but for now let’s hear from our peers. Emmanuella Agyemang, an Africana studies and journalism major, spent her summer interning at the New York Business Journal through the Dow Jones News Fund. Born and raised in the Bronx, she took a 75-minute train ride each day to arrive at her internship, held at the World Trade Center. Through her internship she reported and covered stories on business and commercial real estate in the city, having over 20 bylines published so far. She says she was drilled on journalism ethics, learning how to read different financial forms, and other aspects of journalism, all while being surrounded by driven young journalists. While her internship is over, you can bet she’s busy at Lehigh as the president of African Renaissance, a member of the DEIA Journalism Committee, a mentor for Lehigh University Student Scholars Institute and the editorial pages editor for The Brown and White. Be sure to check out The Brown and White to read more of Emmanuella’s amazing work! As an EMT, pre-PA student Ariel Burman spends her Tuesdays and Thursdays in an ambulance with the volunteer rescue squad of Scotch Plains, N.J. With a major in biology and a business minor, Ariel says that she’s been able to apply what she’s learned in her classes to real-life situations. She says she has learned the importance of communication with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, as well as working in a high-stress environment and remaining calm. Though it can be daunting at times, it’s also rewarding to know that she is helping so many people through vulnerable situations. At Lehigh, Ariel is hoping to apply what she has learned this summer and join the Lehigh EMTS. That’s all for now! Be sure to email me at abr226@lehigh.edu to share what you or any of our fellow peers in the Class of 2026 are doing to be featured in the next column!
