In April 2024, Emily (Mason) Larkin’s first child, Bertie Van Dyke Larkin, was born. A month prior, Emily and the family celebrated the upcoming arrival of their girl with a baby shower. Many Lehigh friends attended: Megan Hess Haley, Katie Schwenk, Michaela (Cooney) Guariglia, Allison (Johnson) Shaw, Brittany Hamilton, Matthew Gingher and Dana Ryan Kelly. Andrew Kelsey announces the birth of his daughter, Scarlett. On the professional side of life, Katie (Freda) Noonan informs us that she recently joined J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Summit, N.J., as vice president and banker. Before this, Katie was with Goldman Sachs. In February 2024, Sarah Silverio was promoted to partner at Summit Trail Advisors. And in May 2024, Dr. Calvin John Smiley published “Defund: Conversations Toward Abolition” with Haymarket Books. Gihan Jayasuriya shares that they graduated from family medicine residency and will begin practicing as a family medicine physician in Pittston, Pa. Allison Porman Swain and her spouse, John Swain, welcomed their daughter Esther on March 26, 2024. Allison also started as an assistant professor of chemistry at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where she will teach both general chemistry and biochemistry and perform research on the RNA modification N6-methyladenosine. In other academic news, Andrew Mastbaum was promoted to associate professor with tenure in the Rutgers University Department of P hysics and Astronomy. Big sister Willow is already his biggest fan. Adriana (Brizuela) Gindlesperger welcomed her third baby, Esme Vivian Gindlesperger, in June. Clinton Botway and wife Jen (Ginsburg) Botway ’11 welcomed their daughter and future Lehigh alum, Elaine Juliette Botway, to the world in June. John Lalomio and wife Maggie welcomed a daughter, Lark Alice Lalomio, in April. She is the happy recipient of more fun and love from big brothers Niall (6) and Otis (2) than she can handle. Finally, Ivy Stepan and her husband welcomed their first child, Logan, in July. Congratulations to all these new members of the Lehigh family! Here are a couple updates from classmates: Ross Parks and Ally (Furie) Parks welcomed their first child, baby girl Lily Aviva Parks, on November 28, 2023. Jacqui (Snyder) Maguire and husband Chris Maguire welcomed their second child, Noah Justin Maguire, in April 2024. Emilia Kubo Kirschenbaum and husband Ben Gitis welcomed baby Elliott Aki Gitis to the world and cannot wait to show him around Lehigh. Elysa (Lomangino) Raschiatore and Jason Raschiatore ’12 were married in September 2019 and had two kids: Emilia in November of 2020 and Leo in December of 2023. They moved to Nutley after living in Hoboken/NYC after graduation and renovated a 1920s home. They both have been working in the City since graduation. Elysa works for a developer and builder based in Harlem, and Jason works for an HVAC contractor based out of Brooklyn. Samantha Narins has just returned from an eight-month solo backpacking trip around six countries in South America, completing her second year of full-time travel. She completed the five-day W Trek in Chilean Patagonia, finished the four-day Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru, visited the impressive Iguazu Falls in both Argentina and Brazil, and so much more, while simultaneously working part-time to build an international therapeutic and executive function coaching private practice online. She will continue traveling full-time, beginning again with summer in Europe, working up to a multi-country cycling trip to celebrate the 2024 Summer Olympics, fall in New Zealand to soak up some more worldclass mountain scenery, and festival season in South Africa to reconnect to her wild side. Sami is single and very happy living the minimalist, adventure-filled and value-driven lifestyle she’s always dreamed of! When not working or planning where to sleep and explore next, Sam inspires herself through reading, training, writing, connecting with fellow travelers, and appreciating the rainbow of culture and art around her.
