Alumni Bulletin-Summer25

CLASS NOTES | SUMMER 2025 | 57 ’24 Kyra Boston, kruthb11@gmail.com All of this warm weather has been making me excited to plan my summer reading list. Among reading books that have been popular in the media (I’m hoping I will have managed to find the time to finish the new “Hunger Games” prequel before this has been published), there are also articles published by our Class of ’24 peers that I will be reading! Josie Krepps has been hard at work during the first year of her Ph.D. at Penn State University, studying food science and working in the Fungal Innovation Lab. In line with her studies and work, Josie has also helped found the Penn State Alternative Protein Project, which assists in building student engagement with alternative proteins on campus. Having become heavily involved at Penn State, Josie has started a Substack blog to document her experiences, research and lessons learned. You can read all of her awesome blog posts at bio techtrashtalk.substack.com! Frances Mack is wrapping up her time in the Medill’s master of science in journalism program at Northwestern. While participating in the program, Frances had the opportunity to attend the Comer Climate Conference, where she reported on methods scientists have been using to study the Earth’s climate system. Recently, her article titled “Clues in Ancient Rocks Show Global Atmospheric Climate Trends in Sync” was published on Planet Forward’s website. You can read it at: planetfor ward.org/story/ancient-rocksclimate-trends! I encourage everyone to add Josie’s and Frances’ writings to their own summer reading list and show our peers some support! As always, please reach out and share your accomplishments and updates! I would love to hear from everyone and to share the updates with our fellow classmates. My inbox is open and empty! Email me at kruthb11@gmail.com, or you can find me on IG, FB or LinkedIn. ’25 Maya Zucker, mayazucker21@ gmail.com, (908) 963-9465 Editor’s note: Many thanks to Stephanie Kasulka for telling the Class of 2025’s stories through their undergraduate days. We’d like to welcome Maya Zucker, who’s taking over as these students become alumni. Hey, Class of 2025! I’m so excited to take over as our class correspondent and keep you updated on what our classmates are up to. I’ve started reflecting on what my time at Lehigh has really meant to me. To me, the thing that has made these past four years as special as they have been is the friends I’ve made. And yes, I know that sounds cheesy, but I truly believe there’s something special about the way we treat each other here and the bonds we form. One special bond I’ve formed has been with the friends I made while serving on Lehigh’s Panhellenic Executive Board. After our time serving together, a group of us set a weekly date to catch up and play our favorite card game, Dutch Blitz (highly recommend). During our most recent “Blitz Date,” we found ourselves walking down memory lane. Sara Menand’s favorite memory was winning LeLaf this past year. She spoke about how incredible it was standing on the field in her cheer uniform, surrounded by waves of students running to support the team after their big win. Starting in the fall, you can find Sara living in Manhattan and working for PepsiCo as a strategy and transformations analyst. Caroline Morgan shared her fond memories of studying abroad in Milan with Professor Gupta during Summer 2023. She shared gratitude for the friends on that trip who turned to family and her adventures running around the streets of Europe. Following graduation, Caroline will begin her career at EY as a risk consultant in the financial services risk management practice in NYC. Maeve Diver spoke highly about her experience as a Panhellenic member and how much she loved getting to know the Greek community at large. Maeve is heading to Philly to work at Penn Medicine in the department of ophthalmology as a clinical research coordinator. Neave Murray has loved the opportunities completing a business minor has given her and how much we value collaboration. Her favorite memories all center around meeting new people, learning from new perspectives and getting to grow as a person. Neave will be heading back home to Colorado to apply for med school and obtain her EMT certification. Class of 2025, it’s been such an honor to spend our time at Lehigh together, and I can’t wait to see what you all are up to next. Congrats on graduating, and I know we will all be back together real soon. ’26 Amanda Rowan, abr226@lehigh.edu Ciao, Mountain Hawks! I’m currently in Florence, Italy, enjoying an amazing study abroad experience. I’ve traveled all over Europe and the U.K., trying new foods, visiting famous sights and, of course, taking tons of pictures. My time abroad has been unimaginable, but dare I say I miss Bethlehem? While I’ve been gone, I’ve sure missed a lot, so let’s hear what the Class of 2026 has been up to! I’ve featured her before, but you can never be too caught up on what Holly Fasching has been doing. A photographer, nature lover, president of Lehigh’s Birding Club and design major, Holly has recently been recognized as the winner of the FML Library Design Contest! Lehigh’s Library and Technology Services invited all students to enter and submit a design for a new art installation to be on display in the FML atrium from 2025 through 2030. Holly said that when she got the email about the contest over the 2024 summer, her gears immediately started turning. After talking about the upcoming contest with friend and mechanical engineering major Kenna Macdonald ’27, the two decided to work together. Holly said the two approached the contest as an entrepreneurship problem. After sending out surveys to gather information on what students would want to see in the library, they realized many felt a lot of social anxiety and reported feeling unproductive. They wanted to counteract that, and after doing some research, they found that plants enhance students’ productivity, and as two outdoorsy people, they began working. After seven months of prototyping, they submitted their proposal for Mossgrove. Now, Holly and Kenna are working alongside engineering students in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science as a part of their capstone project. The installation should be up in FML by the fall of 2025. Holly says she hopes that when students see the installation, they can slow down and take a moment to get lost in the design. She also says that an overarching goal for her and Kenna was to connect people with nature more. I know I can’t wait to see this design next fall, and take a moment to appreciate the nature and the beauty of this project. Huge congratulations to Holly! We can’t wait to see it! That’s all for now, Mountain Hawks. As always, reach out to me at abr226@lehigh.edu to be featured in my next column! As we say in Italy, arrivederci!
