Alumni Bulletin-Summer25

48 | LEHIGH ALUMNI BULLETIN | CLASS NOTES at DuPont, where she managed research and development and business teams in both polymer applications and international trade law. I remember Julie fondly from our freshman hall and have enjoyed seeing her many photos of nature in recent years. She found the beauty in everything. ’86 Dave Polakoff, 400 E. 71st St., #3K, New York, NY 10021, david@dpolakoff.com. “I’ve got a lot of old friends that’re getting back in touch, and it’s a pretty good feeling” (The Hold Steady). “Well, not a ‘lotta,’ but a bunch. Well, not a bunch, but a handful. Well, not a handful, but at least a few” (quasi, “Green Acres’” Hank Kimball). Bethlehem’s Laurie Marshall enjoyed Leh-Laf 2024 Sammy (et al.) tailgates and Trombone Shorty at Wind Creek, along with Sue Lustig and daughter, Melanie Siegel ’27, Mary (Haws) Redmond, Dorothy (Snee) Falk and Sammies Alan Bluestine, Jeff Silverman and Joel Stuttman. Laurie is Lanxess Corporation’s director of business development. Daughter Emily is an epidemiologist for the State of Colorado. Son Sam ’20 is a geologist for a Chicago environmental consulting company. Daughter Jillian is studying visual arts and animation at Kutztown. Trish (Morrow) Dwyer ’87 and Kevin Dwyer hosted Leh-Laf tailgates, attended by fellow ATOs Rennie Benn and Jennifer (Moore) Benn, Marty Horn, Michael Androlewicz and Jim Cronin. Jim is segueing from NXP Semiconductors to retirement to spend more time with his wife, Amy, at the Michigan lake house, with visits from their Grand Rapids- and Chicago-based daughters. Jim is in touch with his Doylestown, Pa.-hometowner, Stephen Goldfield, who works at Tees by Tina with his wife, Tina (Hagman) Goldfield ’88. Chris Bubser is mayor of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.! We all know Deadheads, but Andy Daecher is a Lowehead, catching Nick Lowe shows and other concerts around San Francisco, taking advantage of retirement. As an alternative to the “Ted Baxter’s Famous Broadcasters’ School,” consider public speaking coach Lisa (Ellis) Betz. Noted from prior columns, Lisa is also an accomplished author. Her latest novel, “An Ode to Poison,” a fast-paced, witty mystery with a thread of faith set in first-century Rome, garnered a silver medal in the Illumination Book Awards. Lisa and Herb Betz ’85 reside in Lancaster County. “You recycle jokes, Dave, I’ll recycle containers,” noted Andy Hollyer, enjoying lucky year 13 as CFO of TOMRA Collection Americas: “Transforming how we all obtain, use and reuse the planet’s resources to enable a world without waste.” Andy’s daughters, graduates of Michigan and Wake Forest, are both in Manhattan, one a physician’s assistant, the other in digital marketing. With the Clayton University Center renovations, my recent poll (favorite UC room, circa 1986) yielded that Jon Daniels loved the basement, home to the game room and WLVR. Jon remains in the Lehigh Valley, with Hamptons visits to see Kathleen (Wilson) Katzmann, Eve (Gerriets) Mongiardo and Jan (Panariello) Mansley, and winter sojourns to Vail. Jon’s son Reece manages healthcare logistics in Boston, and son Chase handles chimney repair and maintenance in the Lehigh Valley. Be careful what you wish for Michele Levin, noting you “love visitors”; Jon Daniels may just show up (especially if you have a basement game room). Michele and her husband, Rob, split time between Philadelphia and Park City, Utah, as her coaching and consulting firm, MSL Consulting Group, facilitates working remotely. Son Jake ’15 is leveraging his marketing degree as CEO/ founder of growth marketing firm Inflection Growth. Daughter Sammi also works remotely, facilitating travel, as senior consultant and manager at FluidEdge Consulting, a CitiusTech Company. Son Andrew, a senior financial analyst at BrightView Landscapes, assures his parents he’s not mowing lawns but leveraging his Boston University finance degree. My WLVR listeners may enjoy my March 2025, Radio Woodstock, WDST-FM, guest DJ show, mixcloud.com/radiowoodstock/ be-a-dj-david-polakoff-31525 Please help me get from “a few” to a “lotta.” It’s your submissions that make this column a success. “Well, you’ve broken your vow and it’s all over now, and I’m movin’ on” (Johnny Cash). ’87 Laura M. D’Orsi, 26 Falcon Ridge Circle, Holmdel, NJ 07733, (732) 241-5229 (H); lauramdorsi@yahoo.com Hope everyone is well. We had a great spring and were privileged to attend the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, where we watched the Lehigh women play Duke. The Lehigh cheer team and the Marching 97 accompanied the players to the tournament. Although we did not get the result we hoped, it was a great experience for all involved.
