70 | LEHIGH ALUMNI BULLETIN | CLASS NOTES but the development on campus and in South Bethlehem is real and impressive to see in person. I recommend visiting campus if you haven’t been in a while. ’07 Brian Roth, Lehighclassof2007 @gmail.com Congratulations to Joey Knight, who has been named associate vice president for development for Lehigh University’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations! ’08 Olivier Lewis, olivier.lewis@alum. lehigh.edu The Class of 2008 has more good news to share, along with school spirit and good will. Careerwise, congratulations to Natasha Burns, who was promoted to assistant director of communications at the NYS Office of Information Technology Services. Likewise, hats off to Hilary Halpern, who was recently promoted to vice president of government affairs and head of public policy for Rocket Mortgage, where she now directs Rocket’s Washington, D.C., lobbying and government affairs teams. It should be noted that 2024 was a good year for Hilary, who in April of that year married Brad Fowler, whom she met while getting her MBA at Georgetown. The Class of ’08 also celebrates new life. In March 2024, Margaret Lynch and her husband Conor Leahy welcomed their son, Aidan. In July, Leigh (Hofstetter) Diacont gave birth to Darcie Leigh. Darcie is her parents’ third child. James Kadar sends his greetings. He now has two children, Alexander and Georgie. Likewise, Brittany (Powers) Smith says hello. Brittany married in May 2015 and she has three children: Mason, born in July 2017; Tucker, born in July 2019; and Riley, born in November 2021. And finally, Alexandra (Fehring) Schickli says: “No news! Just happy to stay connected!” Overall, we have many reasons to rejoice. Please feel free to share your tidings with me at the email address above. ’09 Bobby Buckheit, lehighclass2009@ gmail.com Hello all! As always, thanks to those who contributed. As a reminder, please send any updates to be included in the next edition to LehighClass2009@ gmail.com. If you do not get the email reminder for solicitations, also please email and I can make sure you are added to the mailing list for future updates. Great to hear from many of you, and now on to the updates, with a special highlight from one of our classmates. In his own words, Dr. Daniel Frank shares that “since 2018, I’ve been teaching at Arizona State University and coaching the robotics team. Myself and Fredi Lajvardi (teacher featured in the movie ‘Spare Parts’) founded an all-women’s collegiate robotics team (Desert Wave) to compete in one of the most technically difficult international robotics competitions in the world, RoboSub. Students have to design/build/ program 100% autonomous vehicles that complete various tasks underwater. No GPS, six degrees of freedom, and no human interaction. I’m excited to announce that the team I mentored won first place in this year’s competition, outperforming universities like Stanford, Cornell and Carnegie Mellon, as well as some of the top tech schools in other countries like Canada and India. This is the first time a women’s team has ever won this competition. It is also the first time since 2017 that a team from the United States has won the in-person version of this competition.” Special congratulations for this achievement! Kate Kodet, after many attempts thwarted by pregnancies and injuries, finally ran a Boston-qualifying marathon at the Los Angeles Marathon in 2024, and improved her time by eight minutes in Chicago last October. If there are “any other low-key competitive, middle-aged runners out there?” Find her on Strava, and let her know if you’re running Boston in ’25 too! Ashley (Weiss) Schiff welcomed baby boy number three, Jordan Evan, into the family on October 25, 2024! Big brothers Ryder and Xander love their new baby brother! Joe Pfeiffer was married October 26, 2024, to Cole Trider. They were married at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif. Congratulations! Pam and Dan Torino are living in Warren, N.J., since August 2023 after Dan completed his fellowship in hip and knee replacement at Allegheny Health in Pittsburgh. Pam is in her ninth year at JP Morgan as an executive director trust officer, and Dan is in private practice at MidJersey Orthopaedics performing minimally invasive and robotic-assisted joint replacement. Their daughter Juliana (7) is in second grade and son Cameron (5) in kindergarten. The family attended the Lehigh-Lafayette Rivalry Game 160th meeting, where Lehigh Mountain Hawks stomped the Leopards 38-14. Go Hawks! ’10 Nick Anderson, Nick.Anderson@ alum.lehigh.edu Happy 2025! Our 15-year reunion is right around the corner. I hope to see many of you there on campus on June 12-15! For details, please visit alumni.lehigh.edu/reunion. In baby news, Jaclyn (Weissman) Grauman and husband Zach welcomed baby boy Zig “Ziggy” Asher Grauman in October! And Lisa Boyd and husband Alex welcomed baby boy Finn Lexington Boyd in July. In September, Andrew Daniels and Lauren (Horwath) Daniels welcomed their first child, Cooper Greyson Daniels. Lauren and Andrew live in Allentown, Pa. Andrew works as an editorial director at Hearst Magazines, and Lauren is a senior development manager at Aegis Property Group. In December, Andrew appeared on the inaugural season of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” (streaming on Amazon Prime) alongside my teammate, John Gilpatrick. Andrew and John first bonded over their mutual pop-culture brain rot when they met at The Brown and White as journalism undergrads, and this is the culmination of a lifelong obsession. This is Andrew’s second TV appearance in the last year; back in June, he was a guest on the History Channel’s “The Mega-Brands That Built America,” and will be a recurring guest on the show again in 2025. CJ Berzin and his wife Natalie have relocated to Santa Clara, Calif. This move follows CJ’s promotion to head of finance operations for Shockwave Medical, a company recently acquired by his longtime employer, Johnson & Johnson. As always, keep the updates coming! Stay safe, Nick ’11 Sri Rao, sridevi211@ gmail.com Hello, Class of 2011! Can you believe that 18 years ago we all decided to attend Lehigh? Start preparing for our 15-year reunion in 2026. This edition was very light, but here are a couple of updates from our classmates. Anthony Pascale and his husband, Steve, bought a new home in Lower Gwynedd, Pa. I heard there’s enough room for all of us to visit! If you have not been following Brian Tyler Cohen’s accounts on social media, check them out. I have found them very informative, especially during this past election year. I get excited whenever I see him on TV. I love seeing our classmates succeed and positively impact our society.
