Alumni Bulletin Spring25

CLASS NOTES | SPRING 2025 | 67 ’93 Darren Saks, Dksaksinc@yahoo. com, 201-310-8460 I heard from a lot of fellow ’93ers after I blasted an email, so keep the updates coming. First off, there was a great ’93 showing at the sold-out 160th meeting of Lehigh-Lafayette. Our ’27 daughter sadly has yet to enter Goodman Stadium, although she is very familiar with all of its surrounding parking lots and corn fields. We should all take pride in this rivalry as the most played one in all of college football. I love the banners, and my favorites this year were: “Laf is the Temu version of Lehigh;” “Laf putts from the fairway;” “Laf pours milk b4 cereal;” “Laf plays ‘Closing Time’ at 10pm;” and “Pete Davidson doesn’t wear Laf merch.” It’s still hard to digest the Gen Z/millennial shortening of everything, but we are in a Le-Laf world now. Jennifer (Kochenthal) Pagliaroli left Moravian University after 10 years and is continuing her higher ed career at Northampton Community College as assistant director of admissions. She regularly spends time with Lauren (Girard) Rankin, Joanne O’Callaghan and Parag Patel. She is still living in Bethlehem with hubby, two teenage boys, one senior dog and a puppy. I heard Lisa Dempsey has settled in Seattle after having spent time since she graduated all over the world in incredible cities like Geneva, Toronto and, of course, NYC. I heard from my old friend and fellow Lower Cents Stevens hallmate Brett McPeak, who continues to tease me with cryptic updates like “can probably pull together a paragraph or two—most of it factual—on the adventures of Curt Johnson, Steve Snyder, Jon Schuppe, Keith Sutton and me.” I’m still waiting for the unfactual updates, so stay tuned in the next Bulletin. I heard from Lori (Norian) Chin. Lori and Derrick Chin ’92 attended their daughter’s graduation from Lehigh this past May. She is now working in NYC. Their son is a third year at UVA. Lori is at Quest Diagnostics as a senior director of marketing and member acquisition. She spends time as a volunteer and board member with a local nonprofit organization, Families for Families. We wish her well currently training for a 5K in a “Couch to 5K program.” I’m still catching up on all the other updates I received, and thankfully I finally have a good pool to keep our column going and not look lame like one of those blank ones. So, if you sent me an update and don’t see it in this installment, don’t worry, I’ve got you! I also hope to still be able to type the next update as myself and John Sharko, Vince Velardo, Matt Hochhauser ’94, Dave Providenti ’91, Matt DeNicola ’92 and Brad McGill ’94 are heading to Colorado in January for some heli-skiing. If I can’t type the next update, I’ll ask my wife, Kristan (Atwell) Saks, to be my scribe. Go Lehigh! ’94 Michael B. York, 575 West End Avenue #9A, New York, NY 10024; michael.york@nyplaw.com; (917) 575-9391 Finally cleaning up all your emails! Don’t worry, I’ll send you a mass blast again soon! Damon Aldrich is now a director in corp. strategy working as an EV strategist for Enterprise Holdings. He and his wife, Shelley, recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. They live in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., with their two girls, Autumn (18) and Reagan (14). Joseph Kim recently got back into music, with a solo project known as Beau Freres. Col. John Wildermann recently celebrated his 25th year in the U.S. Army. Annie (Cassell) Weibel has a junior at Lehigh, Cameron. He is in Chi Psi along with Michelle (Leonard) Cuddebak and Brad Cuddeback’s ’93 son, William ’24. Annie also has a senior at Lafayette, Sydney, and another son, Dillon, a senior in high school. Her family lives in Darien, Conn. Jessica Winn McNabb lives just south of Boston, working at Ropes and Gray. She has a son who is a high school senior, and her daughter is at Trinity College in Dublin. Greg Steinmetz lives in Rhode Island with his wife and family, where he practices internal medicine. He recently competed in his first triathlon and keeps in touch with fellow classmates and Zeta Psi fraternity brothers Bill Klika ’93, Chris Padurano and Derick Hallahan. Jenn Malatesta has two children, one of whom hopes to play softball at Lehigh. The kids attend the Germantown Academy, outside Philadelphia, where Kurt Wetzel ’93 is her son’s baseball coach. Jenn is the chief commercial officer of Deloitte’s $6B advisory business. Derek Zeller celebrated his 25th anniversary to Kyle (Dori) Zeller ’95 recently. They have two kids, Noah, a junior at Pitt, and Sienna, a senior in high school. They live in Wynnewood, Pa. He recently left SEI Investments, his only job since graduation! Chris DeNoia recently became an adjunct lecturer at Lehigh teaching ENG 495: Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Research Translation to the Market. Jessica Huertas married Dr. Donald Outing last year. They celebrated with family and friends at Mountaintop Wood Dining Room over the summer. She stepped down as president of the LU Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2022, but continues to serve on the board, while also continuing to support LU BALANCE. Jessica works at Accolade, Inc., as a clinical operations supervisor of the women’s health team. Kate (Rantz) Graf recently won an election to the Methacton School District Board of Directors. Bill Graham and Ned Montenecourt play in the premier cornhole league of Marin County, the Mill Valley Cornhole Assn. (I know, seems like I am making this up.) Lori (Colalillo) DeWitte’s son is now a freshman at Lehigh. Raj Butani is a physician at Washington Gastroenterology and serves on the medical staff at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue, Wash., where he was recently elected chief of staff. He lives in the Seattle metro area with his wife, Mona, and boys, Rohan (18) and Khrish (17), and dog Kona. Brad Shalit recently joined Fox Rothschild in Morristown, N.J., as a partner in the taxation and wealth planning department. And the person who always has the best responses to my email blast, Sheila Shovlin, writes me to say: “I drink wine while working late a lot; like right now. I wonder … why didn’t I take Italian or French so I could actually talk to any of our executives intelligently? But I also wonder, what was the name of that sandwich with all the tuna and cheese that everyone would order late at night in Lower Cents? It was like the ocean threw up on a toasted bun. And what are all those people from Dravo doing these days chanting ‘Drraaaaavo Draaaaaavo’ at the freshman rally? We had fewer stairs and a beach volleyball court; get over yourselves. Not that I played volleyball ever, but that’s not really the point, is it?” ’95 Bridget O’Connell, 1840 Sycamore St., Bethlehem, PA 18017. (610) 868-6605 (H); bmo3@lehigh.edu It was great to see so many alumni at the 160th Lehigh-Lafayette game! What an exciting win for Lehigh. In other news, I hope by the time this is published you will have already registered for our 30th Class Reunion! If you are in denial that 30 years have passed, which is why you haven’t
