A Delta Sigma Phi member, Halley spent his career working as a professional engineer for Grumman Aerospace. Richard G. Held ’56 MBA ’59, State College, Pa., April 26, 2025. Held worked for Chemcut before he owned and operated Commonwealth Business Services. He was a member of the Tower Society. His sibling, H. Dale Held ’56, children, Raymond Held ’85 and Thomas Held ’87, and grandchildren, Laura Held ’21 and Andrew Held ’24, are members of the Lehigh family. Michael R. Martone ’56, Glen Cove, N.Y., June 25, 2025. Martone was an attorney for 65 years, specializing in tax certiorari law with Koeppel, Martone & Leistman. Harold A. Wentworth Jr. ’56, Homosassa Springs, Fla., Aug. 5, 2025. A Delta Tau Delta member and a veteran of the U.S. Army, Wentworth worked for gas and electric companies. George E. Christianson ’57, Lebanon, Pa., Aug. 15, 2025. Christianson was a football team and Lambda Chi Alpha member. He worked as a district attorney. Robert C. Durdock ’57, Emmaus, Pa., May 17, 2025. Durdock was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi. He retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company as the vice president of operation after 45 years. Gary C. Goodrich ’57, Augusta, Maine, July 14, 2025. Goodrich was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for the Government Services Administration as a civil engineer. Joseph Mooney ’57, Charlottesville, Va., June 25, 2025. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mooney worked as a psychiatrist in hospitals and private practice. Clark K. Riley ’57, Salem, S.C., June 18, 2025. A member of Alpha Tau Omega, Riley worked for 36 years in sales and marketing in the specialty steel business. Charles R. Sage ’57, Ames, Iowa, April 21, 2025. A veteran of the U.S. Marines, Sage worked for Ames Lab and Iowa State University, where he helped pioneer computer technology. Sidney J. Silver ’57 ’59, Bethesda, Md., July 9, 2025. Silver was a member of The Brown and White and the soccer team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and he worked as a tax accountant, founding Silver, Freedman, Taff & Tiernan. He volunteered extensively with his class, the LUAA Board of Directors, Lehigh Lawyers Association, the Wall Street Council and the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Business and Economics. For his dedication, he was honored with the Alumni Award in 2002. He was also a member of the Tower Society. His Lehigh legacy includes David Silver ’81, Daniel Silver '93, Nathaniel Cannon ’17, Marissa (Cannon) Moser ’18 and Madison Cannon ’19. Bertram F. Elsner ’58, York, Pa., June 1, 2025. A member of the Marching 97, Elsner made his career with the family business, Elsner Engineering Works. He holds 13 patents. He was also a member of the Tower Society. His grandchildren, Abby (Winter) Ingaglio ’15 and Joseph Ingaglio ’16 MS’18, and Robert Bell ’24 are members of the Lehigh family. John M. Hobby ’58, Plymouth, Mass., June 13, 2025. Hobby was a member of Beta Theta Pi and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He made his career in sales for the printing press industry. George A. Kantra ’58, Lititz, Pa., April 6, 2025. Former president of Delta Chi, Kantra served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot. He went on to fly with Trans World Airlines for 32 years. His child, Amy (Kantra) Costello, is a member of the Class of 1991. Harry J. Lister ’58, Ashburn, Va., June 27, 2025. A Phi Kappa Theta member, Lister was the president and CEO of Washington Management Corp. He was also a member of the Tower Society. David A. Lynn ’58, Southern Pines, N.C., April 7, 2025. Lynn was president of Lambda Chi Alpha and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for GATX Corp. and Taylor-Winfield Corp. He volunteered for his fraternity as an alumnus. His child, William Lynn, is a member of the Class of 1990. Richard S. Marks ’58, Milton, Del., Aug. 14, 2025. Marks made his career in the U.S. Air Force, including three tours in Vietnam. He followed his decorated career with 20 years as a defense contractor. David A. Relles ’58, Earleysville, Va., May 4, 2025. Relles was a member of the tennis team and Pi Lambda Phi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard and the president of Central Paper Company. His child, Cheryl (Relles) Givner, is a member of the Class of 1984. Larry D. Sheridan '58, Hanover Township, Pa., April 25, 2025. Sheridan made his career in corporate real estate with Bethlehem Steel Corp. and the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. He was president of the Lehigh Home Club, a member of the 50-Game Club and the voice of Lehigh wrestling on WLVT-TV Channel 39 for 26 years. The son of Billy Sheridan, the long-time Lehigh wrestling coach, his legacy also includes Mary Kate (Sheridan) McKenna '89 and Liam Fogarty '21 '24G. Frank R. Scheid ’58, Gettysburg, Pa., Aug. 6, 2025. Scheid was a member of Theta Chi and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Honeywell. Frederick S. Townsend Jr. ’58, Wolcott, Conn., May 9, 2025. Townsend was a member of The Brown and White. He worked as an actuary for Conning and Company, as well as owning Townsend & Schupp and the Connecticut Life Insurance and Annuity Corporation. He was a dedicated member of the Wrestling Club and the Wall Street Council. He received the “L in Life” award for outstanding achievement and devotion to the university. His Lehigh legacy includes his grandparent, Charles Townsend 1895, parent, Frederick Townsend ’33, child, Carolyn (Townsend) Shields ’90, and grandchild, Liam Shields ’18. He was also a member of the Tower Society. Thomas L. Beaudoin ’59, Barkhamsted, Conn., May 13, 2025. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Beaudoin was a financial business analyst. J. Quentin Bonanno ’59, Edgartown, Mass., Aug. 3, 2025. A member of Delta Upsilon, Bonanno spent his professional career working at Bonanno Brothers Real Estate Group, a pioneer in the development of industrial parks. Anthony Ernst ’59, Southampton, N.Y., Aug. 19, 2025. A veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Ernst spent his entire career as an electrical engineer, focused on large-scale electrical power transmission systems. Harvey Mason Jr. ’59, Geneva, N.Y., June 29, 2025. A member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and a veteran of the New Jersey Army National Guard, Mason was an engineer with Bell Labs, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. William W. Pcihoda ’59, Bethlehem, Pa., July 28, 2025. Pcihoda spent his 35-year career with Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Russel G. Snyder ’59, Odenton, Md., Nov. 14, 2024. Snyder was a member of the soccer team. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for the Department of Defense. Thomas W. Standeven ’59, Rochester, N.Y., Aug. 14, 2025. A member of the Marching 97 and a veteran of the U.S. Army in Korea, Standeven was employed with Zahrndt’s Bookbinders and the Riverside Group for over four decades. 1960s Charles M. Cobb ’61, Petersborough, N.H., Aug. 7, 2025. A Chi Phi member, Cobb was one of the first cohort of Peace Corps volunteers.
