Her story has been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine; Time; Huffington Post and The New York Times, among others. She has appeared on CBS This Morning, NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross and in commercials for Ford, Dell and Lean Cuisine. ALUMNI Sustainable Cities Jennifer S. Gonzalez ’08, ’09G is a leader in municipal sustainability. As director of environmental services and chief sustainability officer for the City of Hoboken, New Jersey, she advances sustainability and resiliency initiatives in priority areas including rainfall flooding, energy, drinking water infrastructure, natural resources and waste management. Being able to participate in various projects with different problems to be solved taught me how to be versatile and adaptable to solve tomorrow’s challenges. Additionally, Lehigh’s multidisciplinary approach to engineering education adds significant value for me to be a wellrounded engineer. Not only Lehigh’s rigorous engineering curriculum allowed me to explore the intricacies of various engineering concepts, but it also allowed me to develop systems engineering thinking and achieve the overall big picture in these challenges.
