Lehigh allowed me to con- nect with people and access resources that wouldn’t otherwise be available to me, especially as an out-of-state and first-gener- ation immigrant student. Attending Lehigh motivates me to step out of my comfort zone, venture into a life of independence, and explore who I am as well as who I could become. “A university is only as good as what the students make of it,” is a quote that was emphasized to me repeatedly by my men- tors before coming to Lehigh, as well as my mentors at Lehigh. Similar to any student committed to Lehigh, my motivation to excel is driven by the ambition to make Lehigh a better university, a better community, and a university that makes lasting impacts on society. Giving back means taking the role of those who helped me excel and providing opportunities to the students who are now in my shoes. Giving back means more than just finan- cial support. Giving back is trust placed in the recipients of the provided funds. You are trusting their intentions, trusting their abilities, and trusting that they will bring positive changes in the future. Thank you so much for your support! As a first-generation immigrant and a first-generation college student, scholarship support means a lot to my family and me.
