BUSINESS Name: Ashley Griesmeyer Hometown: Phillipsburg, NJ Major: Accounting Class: 2023 Favorite activity: Track and Field Favorite faculty or staff: Coach Brooke Astor, Track and Field Dream job: Accountant Attending Lehigh has enabled me to discover and develop my passions while building the foundation for my professional ca- reer. Knowing that my time here is limited motivates me to work hard every day. As a sophomore in the business school, it is crazy to think I only have two more years and that I am halfway done with college. I do not want to take anything for granted. I am grateful to have come from a supporting family and community. They have aided me in my college journey, serving as my biggest cheerleaders and support system and inspiring me to be the best that I can be. Lehigh has given me the perfect balance as a student athlete. Sports have always played a huge role in my life. Being a part of the track and field team at Lehigh continues to provide me with a physical and competitive outlet. From a track perspective, my goals have always been to grow stronger and run faster. In the classroom, I love exploring and learning new things. I enjoy the excitement of understanding challenging new concepts that really make me think. As an athlete and a student, I believe no other college or university other than Lehigh would have enabled me to pursue both of my goals on the track and in the classroom. Giving back is more than just helping or supporting those in your community. It is helping to inspire or providing one with an opportunity. Giving back is an action of gratitude and generosity that can create or draw individuals of a community closer together. The Lehigh community of alum- ni, coaches, professors, and other students has made me feel welcomed. The opportunity to attend such a prestigious university is something I do not take for granted. The support I have received thus far is amazing and inspires me to work hard every day. One day, I plan to give back by aiding and inspiring those in my community just as the Lehigh community has done for me. Your generosity has provided me with an opportunity to learn more about the world, further my ed- ucation, and grow as an individual. With your support, I have been able to experience an opportunity that I might not have been able to receive otherwise. The financial support has enabled me to focus more on school and track, as well as to become more independent. I come from a larger family and have four other siblings. Receiving this award not only made a difference in my life, but my family’s, too. Knowing that alumni continue to give back to Lehigh students not only motivates and inspires me to perform my best in the classroom, but makes me proud and fortunate enough to be a part of a community that cares.
